Download the archive, unpack it with 7zip or similar software, then point the patcher matching your aspect ratio at \TSCGame\Binaries\Win64\TSCGame-Win64-Shipping.exe within the game folder. This will match the FOV to the default 16:9 vertical value and remove the pillarboxing from the dialogue scenes. Tested at 2560x1080, 3440x1440, 3840x1080 and 5760x1080. -

The tool removes black bars from the game at 21:9, 32:9, 48:9 and other wide resolutions. Download and unpack the archive using software like 7zip or PeaZip. The password is pcgw Launch the game Launch the tool Press the "Enable" key While in the game, briefly switch to the Borderless or Fullscreen mode. Use the tool to manually adjust the UI size at 32:9 and wider resolutions. Known issues: Stretched loading screens and rare FMVs. Minor UI display and alignment issues. Use the UI adjustment keys if necessary. The window mode switching requirement is also undesirable, hence the version number! Tested the latest Epic version at 2560x1080, briefly at 3840x1080, 5760x1080, 5120x2160 and 7680x1080 on a single monitor. You can buy me a coffee here. -

Version 1.30 or any version
7,432 downloads
The mod has been been removing pillarboxing affecting gameplay, cutscenes and menu since game launch and up to October 29, 2019. After update 1.40, it is no longer required but still removes all pillarboxing from the menu and fixes the stretching issue caused by FidelityFX CAS. Download the archive and use the password pcgw to unpack it with software like PeaZip or 7-Zip. Launch the tool and target \en_us\client\bin\pc\wwzRetailEgs.exe in the main folder. The solution is essentially approved by the developers that said it won't be bannable, then pinned the message on their official Discord. You can buy me a coffee here. -
Version 1.1

The patcher replaces some of the existing game resolutions with common ultrawide resolutions, allowing for extra horizontal FOV. (VERY IMPORTANT) Follow the first steps of this guide to unpack the game exe. I am not allowed to provide the instructions here. Download and unpack the archive included here, then launch the patcher Target and patch DQB2_EU.exe (English/Europe) or DQB2_AS.exe/DQB2.exe (Asia) . In the configuration tool, 1920x1080 will correspond to 2560x1080 2560x1440 will correspond to 3440x1440 3840x2160 will correspond to 3840x1080 2048x1152 will correspond to 5120x1440 Known issues: UI stretches from 16:9. Screenshots taken through Steam are at 16:9. Shadowplay and other tools can be used instead. Tested the latest full and demo Steam versions at 2560x1080, 3440x1440, 3840x1080 and briefly 5120x1440 borderless. You can buy me a coffee here. -
Version 1.5

The patchers and trainer remove pillarboxing from the game, resulting in more horizontal FOV. Some of the in-game images and cutscenes do not appear to be wide enough to fully fill the screen, but the main cutscenes, menu and gameplay become free of black bars. Use one of the patchers to modify \ChildrenOfMorta_Data\Managed\Assembly-CSharp.dll within the game folder. For the Game Pass version, use the included trainer at 21:9 - the password for the 7zip archive is pcgw. Tested briefly at 21:9, 32:9 and 48:9 in the latest GOG and Game Pass versions. Resolutions wider than 21:9 were affected by severe terrain visibility issues. You can buy me a coffee here.- 11 comments

Unpack the included trainer with software like PeaZip (password is pcgw) and apply the fix after launching the game. This will turn the gameplay and menu FOV from vert- (less vertical) to hor+ (more horizontal). The few pre-rendered cutscenes and the tutorial sprites will remain vert-, while the loading screens and bonus artwork will be stretched. Tested at 3840x1080 and 5760x1080. Version August 2019
1,068 downloads
Abzu supports 21:9 out of the box but somewhat reduces the vertical FOV compared to 16:9. At 48:9, FOV is too small for the game to be playable. The existing solution initially posted to WSGF severely increases the vertical FOV compared to 16:9. Applying one of the patchers included here will match the vertical FOV to 16:9, making each game scene look closer to how it was envisioned by the developers. Unpack the applicable archive, then use the tool to patch \AbzuGame\Binaries\Win64\AbzuGame-Win64-Shipping.exe within the game folder. Tested with the latest Origin version. The tiny patcher can be used to remove black bars from the game at 21:9 and wider resolutions. Follow the instructions within the tool to patch the specified game file. If necessary, any resolution can be set in %USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\Weappy\Rebel Cops\Settings.xml (open in Notepad) Tested the latest GOG version briefly at 2560x1080, 3840x1080 and 5760x1080. The menu cursor disappeared at the triple monitor resolution. You can buy me a coffee here. -
Version 20190708

Unpack the archive with software like 7zip, then patch the main game exe with the tool. This will remove the letterboxing (black bars) from the game, resulting in more vertical FOV than ever before. There will be some vertical stretching of the menu and subtitles. If you have the game on Steam, you will first need to adapt and follow the first steps of my DQB2 guide in order to apply the patcher. Such are the rules! Support with a donation.- 27 comments
