Heavy Rain ultrawide, 16:10 and narrower fixes

10 Screenshots

About This File

These solutions for 2560x1080, 3440x1440, 32:9, 5:4, 4:3 and 16:10 resolutions will remove the black bars from the game without reducing the field of view. The pre-rendered cutscenes, subtitles and some of the UI elements will be stretched.

Unpack the applicable archive with software like 7zip - the password is pcgw if required.

  • If using the trainer, make sure the game is launched before it. After applying the fixes with the hotkeys, change the display mode to fullscreen or borderless and apply.
  • If using the patcher with the Steam version, unpack the game executable with Steamless first, rename it back, then patch.

Tested on the latest EGS and Steam versions mainly at 2560x1080, 3440x1440 and 3840x1080.

Hi, Rose! Thanks for the fix, but I have some issue with it. I have 2560x1080 resolution monitor and i patched the .exe file, but the game, even in menu, looks like zoomed in. I just don't know what to do, can you please help? 😢

The issue appears to be specific to pirated versions of the game, which is not unexpected. Here's what you get otherwise:

Are you using a pirated copy of the game as well?

I just tried this.
put ingame settings on 3440x1440 still 16:9
pressed f6 for 3440x1440 aspect ratio. then switched to borderless and back to fullscreen and still 16:9 😞

I did see the 3440x1440 getting highlighted green.
Am i missing something?

And yes i did start the program after the game started.

In the current version, for 3440x1440 press F8, then F6, then switch to borderless or fullscreen and apply with F (the default game key for applying settings)

wauw i missed that somehow.
thanks for that!
Working fine on the steam release indeed. Low fps tho but that might be my 1050ti being too slow for this resolution.

Edit: ok its only when i use F7 for 32:9 aspect ratio - when is use F6 3440x1440 it works...
Is there a way to add 5120x1440 aspect ratio?

The 32:9 option covers it. Make sure you are following the instructions and switching to Borderless or Fullscreen and selecting Apply in the game after pressing the keys. If you are using a pirated version, that may be the cause as well.

Ah thanks switching in 5120x1440 from borderless to fullscreen ist a little tricky,
but this works now - will test it - thanks!

I am able to get this to work with my 32:9 ultrawide, but it is not persistent.  Do I have to open the patcher every time I want to play?  Or is there a way to make it stick that I am missing?

The trainer must be run each time, whereas the patcher is persistent until the exe is modified by a game update.

Oh ok.  I figured only the first one would work for me, since the title of the other downloads specified aspect ratios I was not trying to achieve.  So fir 32:9 I should use the "Heavy Rain 16x10 patcher"?

No, the descriptions are correct, so the trainer is the only option for 32:9. It does not modify any of the game files and gets into its memory, hence the need to run it every time.

Weird, I just bought the game on steam and it's doing it.

You've got to do the last step.  Open menu in game and switch from fullscreen to borderless windowed or vice versa.  My steam copy is also zoomed in until I do that last step.  Well assuming you're using the trainer, I can't speak for the patchers.
