About This File

PCGW mirror of Steam user Phi Zero's DualShock 4 button prompts mod and Steam guide for ONINAKI.

Installing the mod

  1. After downloading the zip file, extract it in your ONINAKI folder.
    Example C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\ONINAKI
  2. Simply double click _install_prompts.bat
  3. Done!

If you don't trust batch files or just want to do it manually:
Simply move the buttonprompts_pc file over to
-> ONINAKI\ONINAKI_Data\StreamingAssets\STEAM\ui\platform\pc

Uninstalling the mod
Just double-click _uninstall_prompts.bat or just rename the original file back if you did it manually.

OPTIONAL: Changing the pause button

On PS4, the pause button is touchpad. However, the default controller config has this mapped to Share.
If you do not care about this, you're done. If you'd like to change this, read on.
Please note that if you do not change this, in game the pause button will show the touchpad, but it's instead the Share button!

  1. Connect controller and turn it on.

  2. Right-click on ONINAKI in your Steam library and select Edit Steam Controller Configuration
    CBAEB8753204B24DE21CE3DC0F6841AA351D879D

  3. Click on the touchpad mapping (which should say Mouse Button) then change it to:
    Single Button -> Trackpack Click -> SELECT
    FA3B67660DEF80309D577BE95FCCFE8A7A6C9FCB

  4. Done!

      The tools included here remove side black bars (pillarboxing) from the cutscenes and adjust FOV for parity with 16:9.
      The trainer is based on CE components and may trigger some anti-virus software. It allows for fully hor+ FOV adjustment. The password for its archive is pcgw The patchers allow for hor+ FOV adjustment on the horse and simultaneously hor+ and vert- while on foot and at cutscenes. Tested the latest GOG version at 2560x1080, 3840x1080 and 5760x1080.

      The patchers and trainer remove pillarboxing from the game, resulting in more horizontal FOV.
      Some of the in-game images and cutscenes do not appear to be wide enough to fully fill the screen, but the main cutscenes, menu and gameplay become free of black bars.
      Use one of the patchers to modify \ChildrenOfMorta_Data\Managed\Assembly-CSharp.dll within the game folder. For the Game Pass version, use the included trainer at 21:9 - the password for the 7zip archive is pcgw. Tested briefly at 21:9, 32:9 and 48:9 in the latest GOG and Game Pass versions. Resolutions wider than 21:9 were affected by severe terrain visibility issues.

      Option 1 (patchers):
      Unpack the patcher archive and use the applicable tool to patch the exe in \MoonMan\Binaries\Win64\ within the main folder. This will adjust FOV to match the vertical of 16:9. The tool also aims to remove all pillarboxing except from pre-rendered cutscenes but this may come at the cost of reduced FOV in the starting cutscene. Some further cutscenes are confirmed as having more horizontal FOV but there is no way to guarantee every cutscene will display correctly without playing through the game. Option 2 (trainer, supports Microsoft Store):
      Unpack the trainer / Game Pass archive with software like 7zip - the password is pcgw Launch the game Launch the tool Press the black bars removal key before a cutscene and use the other buttons to adjust FOV as desired Tested the latest GOG and Microsoft Store versions at 2560x1080, 3840x1080 and 5760x1080.

      Option 1: Use the included aspect ratio patchers to target \BloodstainedRotN\Binaries\Win64\BloodstainedRotN-Win64-Shipping.exe within the game folder.
      Option 2 (works with Game Pass):
      Download the included trainer and unpack it with software like PeaZip. The password is pcgw Launch the game, then the tool. Press the shown keys to remove the black bars and adjust FOV as desired. To avoid upscaling, edit %LOCALAPPDATA%\BloodstainedRotN\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor\GameUserSettings.ini and at the end add
      ResolutionSizeX=YOUR_WIDTH
      ResolutionSizeY=YOUR_HEIGHT
      and set FullscreenMode=0
      Changing game settings may reset the above.
      Tested the latest GOG and Xbox Game Pass versions at 2560x1080, 3840x1080, 5760x1080 and 3240x2160.

      These solutions for 2560x1080, 3440x1440, 32:9 and 5:4 resolutions will remove the black bars from the game.
      Pre-rendered cutscenes, subtitles and some of the UI elements will be stretched.
      Unpack the applicable archive with software like 7zip - the password is pcgw

      If using the trainer, make sure the game is launched before it. After applying the fixes with the hotkeys, change the display mode to fullscreen or borderless and apply.

      Tested the latest EGS and Steam versions at 2560x1080, 3440x1440 and 3840x1080.
