TrackMania Sunrise not launching

Recommended Posts

I've had a nostalgia rush and wanted to play TrackMania Sunrise. However, it's has not been launching at all on my machine. I'm not the only person having this issue. A lot of people have reported compatibility issues with TMS on modern versions of Windows. I've tried both solutions listed here: http://www.tm-forum.com/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=24517 But nothing works. Can someone help me out?

System Specs:

CPU - Intel i7 4790k 4.0 GHz

RAM- Kingston HyperX Fury Black 16GB

GPU- EVGA GeForce GTX 970 Superclocked,ACX 2.0 4G GDDR5

OS - Windows 10 Pro

You know, it wouldn't be bad if you could mention your computer in the first place.

Albeit, I'm reading TrackMania uses StarForce (3.6 ideally). Which according to my memo, can work (with driver updates) only up to W7 (I really wonder what's the problem though with newer Windows versions)
You should at least check last game patch (this?) and see if that mightn't update DRM version too.

I'm not sure if this is exactly true, but I've heard that older games are easier to run in Wine than on modern versions of Windows. If you have a Linux/OS X installation lying around might be worth a try, easier than purchasing and installing older Windows OS.

Firstly, I do apologize for not posting my system specs in advance. I've updated my post to include them.

Secondly, I've checked out the patch, but even with that and what's listed below, it still didn't work.

Thirdly, a no-CD patch was made by f0xn. I'll link it here: http://users.skynet.be/vierkantduwertje ... X-f0xn.rar But, it didn't work for me. If anyone wants to try it, be my guest.

Lastly, I do own United on Steam, but it's just not the same feeling. Damn you StarForce, burn in hell.

.. Perhaps I haven't been clear enough, but it should indeed at least work on Windows 7 after driver update.

Besides, this is the wine bug report.

EDIT: support improved just months ago. Somebody should try it with latest staging perhaps.

TrackMania Sunrise can run on Windows 7 x64 Professional if the game is updated and cracked. I haven't got the game to work without cracking the game 🙁

Any old version of StarForce (not sure what versions specifically) are blocked on Windows 10 v1809 and later. Again, I don't know what version of Windows specifically blocks old StarForce versions (haven't tested it). Windows is prevented from booting at all unless driver enforcement or other security measures are disabled. I am not sure if you can even work around it.

TrackMania, TrackMania Original, TrackMania Nations and TrackMania United are all affected.

Players trying to launch Tron: Evolution are now met with a message telling them that the 'serial key has expired'. This applies to the retail version as well as the Steam version which is delisted from the store. Players who previously bought the game can no longer install the game, and are met with these messages when attempting to install:

The cause of this problem appears to be Disney not renewing their 'subscription' to the SecuROM activation system for this game. This means that even existing owners of the delisted game cannot install it for the foreseeable future.
User SillyWalk gives us ths update from SecuROM support:

User raidebaron received this message from Disney Games & Apps Support:
Tron: Evolution was never very popular, receiving a very low active player count on Steam throughout its life. However there are legitimate purchasers out there who want to play the game even 9 years after release. Hopefully Disney will be able to resolve the situation or else this is going to be another one of those black marks against DRM and another reason that legitimate game owners are 'punished' for buying games, whereas those who pirated this game arguably get a better DRM-free experience.
Check out our Tron: Evolution wiki article for more information on the game, including its reliance on Games for Windows - LIVE DRM, as if you didn't need another reason not to be able to play the game.

Hello everyone, I would like to clarify why my editing in the article on sound is constantly canceled?
      https://pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Glossary:Sound

Here is the evidence on the pictures below about the difference in sound on the spectrograms.
As you can probably notice, that on Windows 10 samples are more identical to the original, rather than on Windows 7.

      Used materials in this tests

      Source sound

      Windows 10 on Realtek

      Windows 10 on Creative G1

      Windows 7 on Realtek

      Windows 7 on Creative G1

The peculiarity of this behavior in terms of sound in Windows 7 was caused by the introduction of DRM at the development stage of Windows Vista, which is also easily confirmed by reading the development literature.

To carry out this test, recording through the line input via the built-in sound card with the help of Audacity was used and then the results were transferred to the schedule through the Spek.
The conditions were the same (Volume 80% output and input) and the same player Foobar2000 on default settings (no asio/openal and ks with wasapi exclusive for output) was used.

For very talented people, I note that the sound system has remained the same since Windows Vista, but has been significantly reworked: https://www.head-fi.org/threads/windows-10-has-better-sound-quality-than-windows-7-on-my-computer-not-necessarily-yours.789224/
Especially it is important for the old and not-so games that use DirectSound.
And for those who like to listen to music, and especially in a high quality, because windose 10 does not force you to use all sorts of workarounds crutches mentioned above.

      Hello!

Since I'm using Windows 10 I am not able to run one of my old games that is SafeDisc protected DRM. I was thinking that I maybe could make a virtual copy of the game and then be able to run the game. At first I was thinking using Alcohol 120 but I read that someone got a virus from downloading it so I'm not sure about downloading it. I was then thinking of daemon tools which seems safer. Does any of you have any experince with copying a SafeDisc game? Or know how to run SafeDisc game on Windows 10?

      Thank you in advance!

It is still possible to download the game through non-Uplay services such as Steam or Origin, but all versions require Uplay to connect in order to function.

As usual, the widely leaked pirated version suffers from none of these issues and can be played offline right now.

Here's the response from the official Watch Dogs Twitter account:

As usual, check out our Watch Dogs article for up-to-date bugs and fixes, which we'll be sure to investigate further as soon as we can login to the damn thing.

Edit 10pm 27/05/14: Uplay servers appear to be up and working, can now login and play Watch Dogs.

Players looking forward to experiencing Watch Dogs on PC on launch day will be disappointed to find that it's currently impossible to login to the game at all.

Uplay is required to launch the game, and those currently attempting to connect will be faced with the above "Login failed" screen as Uplay authentication servers are being hammered by the usual launch day problems. It is still possible to download the game through non-Uplay services such as Steam or Origin, but all versions require Uplay to connect in order to function.
