  1. the english version of this game has Starforce protection, so it can be unplayable in either virtual machines anyone can help me in this?
  2. I own the original rainbow six and eagle watch on retail CDs but despite the fact that on the rainbow six pcgamingwiki page states that the game uses SafeDisc DRM the game still starts fine. is there some version out there that actually uses SafeDisc DRM?
  3. Hey everyone, I tend to do articles on older and more obscure games that may not have much, if any, support or information online, so I keep running into difficulties finding out what DRM they actually use. A lot of these have disc checks so I've just been putting that on there without any details on what specific form of disc check it is (ie. Fate of the Dragon or Lords of EverQuest). Some of the games don't require the disc or a software key to run (ie. Prince of Qin) but I'm not sure if they're actually DRM-free, so I've just left the details unknown. I've done some searching but haven't really managed to turn up much useful information on the topic. Does anyone know good methods for determining what the specific type of DRM is? Thanks,
  4. Players trying to launch Tron: Evolution are now met with a message telling them that the 'serial key has expired'. This applies to the retail version as well as the Steam version which is delisted from the store. Players who previously bought the game can no longer install the game, and are met with these messages when attempting to install: The cause of this problem appears to be Disney not renewing their 'subscription' to the SecuROM activation system for this game. This means that even existing owners of the delisted game cannot install it for the foreseeable future. User SillyWalk gives us ths update from SecuROM support: User raidebaron received this message from Disney Games & Apps Support: Tron: Evolution was never very popular, receiving a very low active player count on Steam throughout its life. However there are legitimate purchasers out there who want to play the game even 9 years after release. Hopefully Disney will be able to resolve the situation or else this is going to be another one of those black marks against DRM and another reason that legitimate game owners are 'punished' for buying games, whereas those who pirated this game arguably get a better DRM-free experience. Check out our Tron: Evolution wiki article for more information on the game, including its reliance on Games for Windows - LIVE DRM, as if you didn't need another reason not to be able to play the game.
  5. I've had a nostalgia rush and wanted to play TrackMania Sunrise. However, it's has not been launching at all on my machine. I'm not the only person having this issue. A lot of people have reported compatibility issues with TMS on modern versions of Windows. I've tried both solutions listed here: http://www.tm-forum.com/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=24517 But nothing works. Can someone help me out? System Specs: CPU - Intel i7 4790k 4.0 GHz RAM- Kingston HyperX Fury Black 16GB GPU- EVGA GeForce GTX 970 Superclocked,ACX 2.0 4G GDDR5 OS - Windows 10 Pro
  6. Hello everyone, I would like to clarify why my editing in the article on sound is constantly canceled? https://pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Glossary:Sound Here is the evidence on the pictures below about the difference in sound on the spectrograms. As you can probably notice, that on Windows 10 samples are more identical to the original, rather than on Windows 7. Used materials in this tests Source sound Windows 10 on Realtek Windows 10 on Creative G1 Windows 7 on Realtek Windows 7 on Creative G1 The peculiarity of this behavior in terms of sound in Windows 7 was caused by the introduction of DRM at the development stage of Windows Vista, which is also easily confirmed by reading the development literature. To carry out this test, recording through the line input via the built-in sound card with the help of Audacity was used and then the results were transferred to the schedule through the Spek. The conditions were the same (Volume 80% output and input) and the same player Foobar2000 on default settings (no asio/openal and ks with wasapi exclusive for output) was used. For very talented people, I note that the sound system has remained the same since Windows Vista, but has been significantly reworked: https://www.head-fi.org/threads/windows-10-has-better-sound-quality-than-windows-7-on-my-computer-not-necessarily-yours.789224/ Especially it is important for the old and not-so games that use DirectSound. And for those who like to listen to music, and especially in a high quality, because windose 10 does not force you to use all sorts of workarounds crutches mentioned above.
  7. Hello! Since I'm using Windows 10 I am not able to run one of my old games that is SafeDisc protected DRM. I was thinking that I maybe could make a virtual copy of the game and then be able to run the game. At first I was thinking using Alcohol 120 but I read that someone got a virus from downloading it so I'm not sure about downloading it. I was then thinking of daemon tools which seems safer. Does any of you have any experince with copying a SafeDisc game? Or know how to run SafeDisc game on Windows 10? Thank you in advance!
  8. It is still possible to download the game through non-Uplay services such as Steam or Origin, but all versions require Uplay to connect in order to function. As usual, the widely leaked pirated version suffers from none of these issues and can be played offline right now. Here's the response from the official Watch Dogs Twitter account: As usual, check out our Watch Dogs article for up-to-date bugs and fixes, which we'll be sure to investigate further as soon as we can login to the damn thing. Edit 10pm 27/05/14: Uplay servers appear to be up and working, can now login and play Watch Dogs.
  9. Players looking forward to experiencing Watch Dogs on PC on launch day will be disappointed to find that it's currently impossible to login to the game at all. Uplay is required to launch the game, and those currently attempting to connect will be faced with the above "Login failed" screen as Uplay authentication servers are being hammered by the usual launch day problems. It is still possible to download the game through non-Uplay services such as Steam or Origin, but all versions require Uplay to connect in order to function. 10. On an announcement on CD Projekt RED’s official blog, Marcin Iwinski stated: “I’d like to say it loud and clear: The PC version of The Witcher 3 will have absolutely no DRM from day 0. Zero. Zip. Nada. It doesn’t matter if you choose to buy it on GOG.com and support us directly or buy the game in box format, you’ll still get the 100% DRM-free experience.†There is no word yet on whether this will include a Steam version as well. Anyone who owns The Witcher or The Witcher 2 from Steam or other retailers can download DRM-free versions by activating the games on GOG.com.

  12. The current Humble Bundle for Android 7 includes a version of Worms Reloaded which has omitted any multiplayer support in its DRM-free version. Multiplayer is supported only through Steamworks, and can only be accessed by redeeming the supplied Steam key.Problematically, this fact is not specified anywhere on the Humble Bundle page or download screen. Prior to purchase or install, there is no indication that multiplayer is disabled in the DRM-free version. If you try to access multiplayer, the button will be grayed out and cannot be clicked. Team17, the developer confirmed on Twitter that only single player is available for the DRM-free version. Download attachment: Team 17 tweet about Worms Reloaded multiplayer.jpg It should also be noted that Worms Reloaded multiplayer is not cross-platform on the PC platforms either. Whilst we might not expect Android and iPhone versions to be compatible, it is surprising that Windows, Mac and Linux users can only play with people using the same operating system. 14. The final nail in the coffin is revealed on the Age of Empires Online support page which states that Games for Windows Live will close July 1, 2014. However the page seems to have been edited around an hour after it was discovered and the information is no longer there. Luckily I caught the full screenshot here: Download attachment: AOEO2.jpg A NeoGAF user has posted a list of affected games that will be unavailable for purchase anywhere after the Games for Windows Marketplace closes on August 25, 2013 as well as those affected in some way by the service closure on July 1, 2014.
