There was a recent update (see https://steamdb.info/app/2172010/patchnotes/) which doesn't appear to have a proper new version number, but causes the patched 1.08 exe to fail. I see the splash screen, the screen goes black for a second and I'm back in Steam.
I only got the game yesterday (so haven't used the prior version) and am trying to run it in Crossover on an M4 Pro MBP. The md5 for the current Bates-Win64-Shipping.exe is 9b6dbcb758cbaf76a74ea261389e4a67 (might be of interest?).
Yes, you were. You replied in the comment section of a file upload, not on a forum. Those are two different things. Also, my point was that it would be more lucrative if you shared your thoughts about the issue with GOG's support, because the more people do it, the greater the chance that something will change in the matter.
1. Revision was installed directly from GOG Galaxy. I mainly use the Steam version and haven't manually installed it since ~v1.4 days, probably. I see 1.6.3 offline installers available to download, so if that default installation wasn't outdated, then that old Revision or BioMod messed with the displayed info on the main menu. Only mentioned it because of potential incompatibilities it might have caused.
2. I wasn't replying to any particular post or telling that to anyone, it was a gen
1. The latest GOG version is "1.112fm(Revision 1.6.3.0)", so you probably have some outdated build.
2. If you are annoyed with the situation, then don't tell that to me and instead report it to GOG's support. I can't do anything about it, but they can.
You're welcome.
I love GOG and Revision, but it's a pretty annoying situation to offer such an outdated build of the product that requires some tinkering.
For some reason, my GOG version of Revision is 1.6.1. 25/12/20 and not 1.6.3.
Installed the patch, most options have been reset, but besides that, it seems to be working. Hopefully, achievements won't be messed up even further (now they don't update in Galaxy app, but unlock and can be tracked on player profile viewed in a web browser).
Thanks
