I'm confused: if Upatch is already installed, why would you need to work around its registry check by using this registry patch? I'm pretty sure it only checks when installing, not before running?

BTW found a fix , just use CheatEngine latest version , choose the pes 2004 exe file , enable "Enable speedHack" and lower it as much as you want

I tried this, but it keeps the game square, and stretches the FOV. It did seem to briefly help with my crashing issue (see linked post), but due to the FOV I couldn't actually see the boss very well, and then it crashed about 30-or-so seconds in. Is this plugin supposed to be used in tandem with DXWnd or similar?

The only thing I found to work was to own the actual Ultimate Edition, and not the base game + season pass.  Install sizes are different between the two.  So for me, the only thing that worked was removing the base game from my account and re-purchasing Ultimate Edition.  It was ~8 USD during a recent sale and likely around the same during the upcoming winter sale.
