I have both GOG and retail copies of - Empires: Dawn of the Modern World (2003). It can be a struggle to get working on a more modern OS, with modern hardware.

In the past, once I finished installing a fresh copy of Windows 11, I would install Empires DOTMW first. That protocol normally worked.

I recently installed Empires DOTMW via GOG without any success. After the video intros, I get a black screen. I tried YouTube tutorial - 'How to make Empires Dawn of the Modern World run on Windows 11'. I've installed the 'widescreen patch' for 1920x1080 resolution.

I've tried some DXWrapper stuff but to be honest, I'm not sure what I'm doing with that tool. Using GOG Galaxy, you can't install the game with specific compatibility settings, whereas with the retail copy you probably can. You can only run the installed game with specific compatibility settings.

I am also under the assumption the GOG version is pre-patched with game patches. Downloaded patches fail to locate the installed GOG game, too.

Any suggestions?? Anyone else experiencing the same issue?? Any solutions??
