Error descriptions:

Silent Hill 2
A white window appears. Then a dialog box appears with the message:
The application is not responding. The program may respond again if you wait.

A white screen appears and then it switches to black. Black to white. White to black. Finally the window closes. I did not see the Konami logo.

Troubleshooting Silent Hill 4:
The following did not work...

001. Run as Administrator
002. Change installation path
SSD is C and D drive.
C:\Program Files (x86)\Konami\Silent Hill 4
C:\Silent Hill 4
D:\Program Files (x86)\Konami\Silent Hill 4
HDD is K Drive.
K:\Program Files (x86)\Konami\Silent Hill 4
003. Configure dxcfg.exe
Display mode: Presentation:
640 x 480 100 Hz Windowed
640 x 480 120 Hz Windowed
1280 x 720 100 Hz Windowed
1280 x 720 120 Hz Windowed
004. Rename CheckSpec.dll to 00CheckSpec.dll
005. Silent Hill 4 PC Fix by Steam006 1.7.0
006.
Analyze Wait Chain
Analyze Wait Chain did not find anything suspicious. It prompts that SILENT HILL 4.exe is running normally. The box remains there even after Silent Hill 4 crashes
007. Install using gog.com Galaxy client at
C:\Silent Hill 4
008. Change Folder permissions
Properties > Security > Edit... > Add... > Input username > Check Names > OK
Select newly added username > Enable Full Control > OK
009. Configure DEP (Data Execution Prevention) to use default settings
Enable Turn on DEP for essential Windows programs and services only
010. Boot up Windows in clean boot mode
The game no longer crash by itself but it gets stuck instead. The game installed in HDD still can launch in clean boot mode.

Working sequence:
Konami logo
Konami logo
Silent Hill 4 title
Silent Hill 4 menu with guitar playing
Silent Hill 4 menu responds to keyboard input

Problematic sequence that triggers in clean mode and must be full screen:
White to black
Black to white
White to black
Black to white
7X8gKQ.jpg

7X8rx1.jpg
Window is now white and has black bars on both side. Guitar is playing but is cut short and it is played non-stop
The same white screen is not responding to keyboard. Without rebooting in clean mode, i am able to trigger the same screens above if I did the following:
Remove Nahimic
Disable Nvidia GeForce Experience In-game overlay

I've just tried Silent Hill 4 (GOG version) on SSD drive SSDPEKKW512G8(Intel 760p M.2 NVME) and it works fine. Don't have Silent Hill 2 to check it too.

Didn't use any patches, wrappers, just ran it. Game is installed in the default GOG directory C:\GOG Games\

@Mastan
Thanks for testing. I will download the installer again, the offline installer and galaxy version. I have yet to install gog galaxy before.

I will also try suggestion from MM Legends thread to check Resource Monitor Analyze Wait Chain.

I bought another SSD to rule out PC problem. Unfortunately Fortunately, Silent Hill 4 could run in the new SSD.

Info about my storage:

Disk 0:
Toshiba Sata HDD MQ01ABD100
> K Drive

Disk 1:
Toshiba Nvme SSD KXD5ULN11T92
> C Drive <- Windows 10. Clean install
> D Drive

Disk 2:
XPG SX8200 Pro Nvme SSD SX8200PNP
> E Drive
> F Drive

Things i tried to trigger the same issue in the new SSD but failed:

001. Disable Enable write caching on the device
Device Manager > Write-caching policy
> This option is not available for my Toshiba SSD
This device does not allow its write-caching setting to be changed
002. Create One/Two Basic Data Partition
> No issue to launch the game menu for either one or two partition

Planning to clone my Toshiba into the new SSD later.
