Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age has received a patch today which removes Denuvo, the infamous DRM on this PC port and remaster.

The notes for Patch 1.0.4.0 only mention some minor content changes:

However the removal of Denuvo can be seen on this update on SteamDB:

This PC port joins our esteemed our growing list of games that have had Denuvo patched out.

Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age is currently 50% off on Steam until April 30, 2020, which seems like rather convenient timing.

Game not starting

The game is now not starting since the update, and is being reported by many people on the Steam Discussions, It appears as if multiple Steam critical files and the configuration tool were removed in the latest update, which is probably non-intentional:

Update: @fayaine has collected the missing files - most critically steam_api64.dll and also the FFXII_TZA_GameSetting.exe config launcher.

Update: an update has been released to restore the missing files. The game will now start normally after installing the latest update through Steam.
