What is the difference between the "wide" and standard version? Does this refer to widescreen?

I didn't see an explanation in the readme files.

"LC_FlashlightMod_WIDE.Arch00 casts shadows from the player's weapons, which can be a hindrance." - that's what it says in the PCGW article...
