Blair Witch, a horror game based on the cult classic film The Blair Witch Project, was initially available for pre-order on GOG.com

Today, on Blair Witch’s GOG store page, Bloober Team (the game’s development team) announced that the GOG version would no longer “be released on GOG.com on the global release day (August 30th, 2019).”

All users who have already pre-ordered the game on GOG will be refunded. The official store page states that the GOG version will eventually be released at a later date in 2019. Considering the GOG preorders had opened on June 9th, 2019, it seems strange to have the title pulled so soon after.

Bloober Team has not provided any explanation behind the decision. While some have speculated an imminent Epic Games Store exclusivity announcement, the Steam listing has not been impacted. With this in mind, perhaps Bloober Team is simply attempting to protect their launch window sales through the use of DRM.
