AnotherGills 25 Share Posted July 26, 2019 Initially slated to be released in September, Pirahna Games has announced that MechWarrior 5: Merecenaries will be delayed to December 10th, 2019. Furthermore, the announcement also revealed that the title will be initially launching exclusively on the Epic Games Store. The MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries FAQ page provides more insight, stating the game will be exclusive to the Epic Games Store for one year. Unlike Shenmue III’s initial store shifting fiasco, Pirahna will be offering full refunds to all users who have pre-ordered the title, stating: Quote Fans looking to obtain refunds from their pre-order of any tier are able to do so by September 1st. Pre-order refunds of any tier will be refunded in full. Additionally, those seeking refunds will be able to keep all bonus MechWarrior Online content from the Standard, Collector and Ultimate Editions of the pre-order. This policy makes MechWarrior 5's move to the Epic Game Store a much more amicable, and certainly less controversial affair. Reply (Quote)
Oxion3 2 Share Posted July 27, 2019 Quote This policy makes MechWarrior 5's move to the Epic Game Store a much more amicable, and certainly less controversial affair. Oh believe me there's enough controversy about this other than the deal. Russ Bullock (Piranha Games CEO) blocking people on Twitter for simply having questions about this, lying about the exclusivity even though they already planned it since late April, people asking if they can keep their pre-order bonus and "waiting out" the exclusivity time resulting in their pre-orders getting cancelled even though they clearly said they don't want it cancelled... Suggestion: Update your blacklists. Reply (Quote)
Andytizer 269 Share Posted July 27, 2019 If SidAlpha's sources are to be believed it means that 4000+ out of 20,000 pre-orders have been cancelled due to this EGS announcement. Reply (Quote)
Luigi master89 12 Share Posted July 28, 2019 Hot take: EGS is a ploy funded by the console manufacturers (at least a certain Japanese one who donated 6 games) in an attempt to kill the PC platform, now that it's at an upswing, and for the first time matching console revenue. What better way to divide the userbase, piss of paying customers to justify piracy, and giving developers second thoughts about PC when they can just make games only for consoles?
