Fix for Max Payne sound/audio problems on Windows Vista and later.
Note: this isn't needed anymore if using the latest DSOAL.

Script edited to convert WAV sound files into 16-bit instead of 8-bit to prevent quality loss and conversion artifacts, plus ensure DSOAL compatibility.
Note: this will increase file size due to higher bit depth conversion:
Vanilla game size: 792 MB
1.12 patch applied - 1.56 GB
1.12.1 beta patch applied - 2.21 GB

If you have an error of RasMaker.exe during conversion: The procedure entry point timeGetTime could not be located in dynamic link library rl.dll

right click on RasMaker and set compatibility mode to WIndows 98. The same goes to Sox.exe as the same error will appear.


If you're too lazy to wait for the files being converted, here you have ready converted RAS files by this 1.12.1 patch (based on original English version) packed with 7zip (1.17GB):
