Postal III crash when throwing grenades

I have the latest Steam version with the NoDRM thing applied, my game crashes when throwing grenades. I already tried this fix but it didn't work. I have Windows 10 x64 with an AMD CPU and GPU. Please help!

Have you tried either of these ? :

Postal 3 Beta Mod Pack (2 versions i have are 0.9 and 1.1)

P3 Improvement Mod

missing sounds - 'game_sounds_weapons_p3.txt' (mentions grenades in the weapons list)

postal3win10fix

There's a few files knocking about out there that might help.

Working 18mb Link appears to be halfway down the page.

I haven't used this patch myself .

All the files i have were picked up from Postal fan sites a long while ago.

Might be worth translating that Russian Steam topic  to see if it mentions any fixes for crashing.

 

Also, if you've installed any weapon/character sound mods ,you have to do this:

"As soon as you've started the game ,activate the console and type : snd_rebuildaudiocache

 After a short boot restart the game ."

Only mentioning that as it could be a sound issue linked to weapons ,not that i know anything 🙂

 

Sidenote:

I still have the maps mod.

south_and_north_catharsis_bonus.7z (129mb)

I think the modder said something at the time about joining up the postal 3 map so there

wasn't any loading from south to north.

You could walk around but i don't remember there being much to do.

Shame he never took it any further.

Anyway ,pretty sure you can find the files out there,probably on a Russian site like playgroundDOTru .

I tried the Improvement mod and snd_rebuildaudiocache, neither of which have worked. I'll try some of the other stuff and see if it makes a difference.

Update: I reinstalled the game, tried the unofficial Russian 1.13 final patch, postal3win10fix (which is just a repost of the No DRM patch, hashes are identical), the thing I mentioned in my original post, Win 7 compatibility with Fullscreen optimizations disabled and the scaling set to Application, still doesn't work.

Thanks for the info about that patch ,you get that sometimes ,the same stuff repacked by someone with a different name.

Here's that  Sound file attached below though it could well be something that's already in those mods or fix files.

I suppose you could try some of that basic stuff like running it on one cpu ,adjuisting graphics lower ,making sure antivirus is not hooking into the game folder ,e.t.c.

Though you sound like the sort of guy who knows that stuff anyway ,good luck !

I tried this and it didn't work. Actually, it gave me graphical corruptions ("CRT-like" corruptions). I reinstalled yet again and now the corruptions are gone, but grenades are still broken.

Update: Beta Modpack final doesn't fix it either

I think it says it fixes the grenade crash.

Interesting. If this doesn't work I don't think anything will ever help.
