It'sJustAnotherExcuse 2 Share Posted October 8, 2020 https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Need_for_Speed:_ProStreet I'm making this article to inventorize any issues not adressed or unsolved. I want to do this as a sanity check because in the past I would enthausiastically jump the gun when I seemingly solved an issue when on a more thourough view nothing was solved at all. So once more people witness the issue in question is solved the page editor can decide to include it. Problem: Framerate stutter A severe gameplay problem are the constant framerate drops this game is having even on high end machines. I think the gamedevelopers already had this issue and probably tried to make it less noticable to lock the framerate to 30fps in the version 1.1 patch. Possible solution: I think I have remedied this issue though. What I have done is using the NFS Pro Street Generic Fix and use windowed mode. You can then use Borderless Gaming to run the game at fullscreen at your desired resolution. With v-sync enabled my gameplay experience was significantly improved, so I'd like to hear what anyone else has to say about it. Problem: Low soundvolume when using surround Maybe just a Windows 10 problem or something related to my hardware (Creative Audigy RX) and not a very serious problem but when I choose Surround in the soundoptions I have to significantly increase the volume. Possible solution: Use IndirectSound. When the .dll's are copied into the gamefolder I have proper soundvolume now. Problem: Game won't launch when using Generic Fix and ReShade together Not a biggie but I like to use ReShade as I use it in many games but the game crashes on launch when using them both. I tried standalone versions of SweetFX but they also crash or just refuse to work. I don't understand what could be the problem as the Generic Fix uses dinput8.dll while Reshade uses D3D9.dll. Possible solution: None at this time or use either the Generic Fix (recommended) or ReShade. Problem: Unlocking boosterpack extra cars Possible solution: http://www.nfsunlimited.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=15696 Reply (Quote)
cuzbabytonight 2 Share Posted October 9, 2020 I'd like to mention that "R8 fix" on the ProStreet page is actually a completely different car, as it's based on a newer variant of the R8 that wasn't in any version of ProStreet. This mod seems like a better fit, but I'm still not sure if it's the right one: https://www.nfscars.net/need-for-speed-pro-street/9/files/view/14120/ Reply (Quote)
AlexKVideos1 22 Share Posted October 12, 2020 So I jus started dealing with ProStreet and I've been able to check out the DLC and it looks like those cheat codes actually work so I plan on adding that to the article. I didn't have much problems pertaining to those fixes above so I can't say for sure. Reply (Quote)

I was going to add that to the wiki, but I got busy. Hopefully I will get to it soon, but feel free to add it if you want. Reply (Quote)
cuzbabytonight 2 Share Posted October 19, 2020 You can just use Extra Options to unlock DLC. It's the easiest and it works great on the 1.1 patch. Reply (Quote)
mrpenguinb 4 Share Posted November 24, 2020 Need for Speed Most Wanted, Need for Speed World and Need for Speed Pro Street are all affected by stuttering (very bad frame-pacing). Need for Speed Carbon might be affected as well. I wonder if they all have the exact same cause... Running the game in Windowed does fix it for Pro Street, Most Wanted doesn't have an option with the Widescreen patch See here: https://github.com/ThirteenAG/WidescreenFixesPack/issues/719 Reply (Quote)
