Mars icecream 57 Share Posted June 2, 2016 I found a way to unlock all (?) DLC in Need for Speed: Most Wanted (2012). I don't know if this is legal, but there's a similar tweak for Alice: Madness Returns under essential improvements: http://pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Alice:_Madness_Returns#Unlock_DLC_Dresses_and_Weapons
Mirh 103 Share Posted June 2, 2016 Well, we even have this kind of stuff for Burnout Paradise (and it really hurts my feeling thinking that this BS always happen with EA) Nevertheless, this is quite delicate. All three cases aren't sharing copyrighted stuff in the first place, which is idea. The similarities stops here though. In Alice case, hell it's only a .ini edit. And moreover it doesn't seem all that different than BFBC2 that had preorder bonus unlockable in-game. Is it piracy if the same things you always could unlock by playing more or, at most, with hacks are now sold for money? I don't think so. In Burnout case hex editing comes into play, yes sure thing, but similarly to Alice, files already are in the game, and there's no way (at least on my side of the Atlantic) to ever unlock them. Here instead there's no "obvious unlock", you hex edit exe, modify/replace save and technically you still had other ways to play them. But in the end, none of these steps is wrong. Given the last point though, I'd say I see no reason to have these instructions on a wiki about fixes in the first place, considering there's nothing to fix or improve. Blackbird 54 Share Posted June 2, 2016 If it's just file editing then I don't see any harm. Obtaining RAGE pre-order DLC just means creating fake .ini file Only exception I noticed is the GRID/Arkham Asylum DLC both which are OS X exclusive. Mirh 103 Share Posted June 2, 2016 Only exception I noticed is the GRID/Arkham Asylum DLC both which are OS X exclusive. At least for the latter though, it's not like there's some way to play them without a legit game license, if I can explain. Windows one implies OSX. Also, gg for me to have reach Feral guys. NINJA DISCOVER: dlcs for burnout are now available worldwide! Which is cool, I mean, and put indeed the workaround on the same place of NFS one. Not needed. I feel bad for the hours spent writing it though. Mars icecream
Mars icecream 57 Author Share Posted June 2, 2016 dlcs for burnout are now available worldwide! What does that mean? Has the console-exclusive Burnout Paradise DLC been successfully ported to PC? I tried Vanity Pack back in the day, but car position on the minimap was completely off afterwards.
Mirh 103 Share Posted June 3, 2016 I meant.. the car packs. They are available straight in Origin now. If you want the console exclusive one, you may want to check newer Vanity mod versions.
Pridit 39 Share Posted February 16, 2018 No, not unless the game in questions is rendered unplayable without. People looking to unlock DLCs for free or otherwise for example in the event of being taken off the market or as part of a pre-order bonus should look elsewhere. It's questionable legality, so the safest option is to not support it. Anywhere this is included should be removed.
