Basically, uplay sucks really hard when talking about storefront. If you link other country code link, you'll get redirected to front page, however manually switching the country code from url (e.g. from it_IT to fi_FI) it magically works and shows games page (...really ubisoft?)

 

So this basically means that most of the uplay links are pretty much useless when they redirect to uplay home page instead for majority of users. And then there happens this kind of situations where users are trying to fix the issue, but in reality moving the issue or making it worse. 

 

Could it be possible to get users country code some way and redirect to right place or maybe even go to extreme and simply link to uplay article or homepage with every case and just state that game is available there?

It should be possible to narrow it down to 3 unique links, 1 for each region:

 

ubiemea - EMEA countries

ubina - USA & Canada

ubibr - Brazil

You can visit the other regions by disabling javascript. ubibr and ubina appears to use the same productID so it might be possible to determine where the user should be sent to.

Oh wow, I should open my mouth more often. 

 

I have made an example at User:Garrett/Availability/sandbox. This replaces the existing Uplay store type with Uplay-NA and Uplay-EMEA. This doesn't cover Brazil, but there probably isn't an ideal solution for that.

That's already 18 times better than current system and will cover majority of users.

I have now added Uplay-NA and Uplay-EMEA support to the live templates--as in the sandbox example, supply just the product ID rather than the full URL. The old-style Uplay row remains valid for now.

So Ubisoft changed their layout, but only for their 'other' region.

 

So the template should be updated to:

|uplay-emea = [http://www.dpbolvw.net/click-6723194-10912384?url=http://store.ubi.com/{{{link}}}.html Uplay (<abbr title="EMEA countries (Europe, the Middle East, and Africa)">EMEA</abbr>/other)]

The articles needs to be changed accordingly, I have compiled a list (CSV format), this only includes games available in the 'ie' region (International English):

I have updated the templates now.

 

There are only a handful of games, so they could be updated manually. The new storefront lists alternate editions in a much more obvious manner, so as with Steam etc. it should be less necessary to individually link to available editions.

Unrelated to Uplay, but it seems GMG changed the way special editions links work so this

Not a big deal since standard and special editions are now on same page, but worth to mention.

 

They also changed some of the game's names as did Humble Store before. Manual changes required.  Luckily most of the games are unaffected however.
