til 0 Share Posted March 1 I own the game, but under windows 11 the system does not let me install .NET 3.5 anymore. However, steam insists on it and does not let me run the game. I have found the following workaround from here: https://steamcommunity.com/app/870780/discussions/0/624416751011045452/ Go inside game folder, delete Control.exe, make a copy of Control_DX12 or Control_DX11 depending on your preference. Rename the copy of Control_DX12/DX11 to Control.exe and start game from steam. You can now play without Remedy spyware. Starting the game from Control_DX12 is not enough, cause game has a check to see if Control.exe was run (contrary to inkus claims). Installing .NET Framework 3.5 in 2025 is a security risk, so I hope that helps. I think this should be noted in this wiki as well, however I have not edited there ever. Is someone with experience willing to do this or should I just go ahead and try it myself? BR Til Reply (Quote)

BR Til You can go ahead and add it yourself—wikis like PCGamingWiki rely on community contributions, and your workaround sounds useful. Just make sure to write it clearly and mention any risks or limitations so others understand what they’re doing. If you’re unsure, you can also post it on the discussion page first and let experienced editors refine it. Reply (Quote)
Mastan 19 Share Posted April 24 Quote The game requires you to install .NET 3.5 which is not possible under Windows 11 This is incorrect. .NET 2.0/3.5 can be installed on Win in the Windows Features dialog(OptionalFeatures.exe). I've just tested - Control runs fine on Win11 25H2 and those components are installed. If you personally cannot install it then your system is broken somehow. I've reformatted and changed the wording. Since it's not tied to the Win11 but to general case of absence of NET 3.5 I've also removed mention of Win11. I am currently using Win 11 Pro 25H2 (german). optional features shows me only two entries when filtering with "net" that belong to RSAT. There is nothing about .NET All the installers I have downloaded separately did not successfully install it. Another discussion about this can be found here: https://steamcommunity.com/app/870780/discussions/0/5005182950321342664/?ctp=2 Anyway it is strange that the installer wants to have .NET3.5 although the game runs fine without it. Use the old optional features component. You can quickly run it by executing(Win+R) command "OptionalFeatures.exe". It doesn't have search feature but .NET Framework 3.5 should be the first item there. til 1 Reply (Quote)
