RaptorZX4 0 Share Posted October 26, 2024 i built a Windows XP machine (Core2Duo E8600, 4gb DDR3, Geforce GTX745), good enough to run Split Second (and many others XP-era games) very well. And since i saw that there is a way to improve framerate and slowdowns in Split Second, with DXVK, i just told myself i would try it. But i followed the steps explained in the PCGW, putting the d3d9.dll file from the x32 folder (of DXVK) in the root folder of the game (where the .exe is), and it just gives me an error when i try to start the game. Anybody else was able to make it run without problem? maybe i need to download an older version of DXVK? or maybe DXVK is meant for the newest computers with Windows 10 or 11? aronnemeth2001 1 Share Posted October 27, 2024 Vulkan (which DXVK wraps Directx to) isn't supported on Windows XP. Reply (Quote)

GTX 745 is Maxwell GPU and should support Vulkan and DXVK on Windows 7. Some older GPUs (or maybe even drivers) will be compatible only with DXVK 1.10.3 (like with GTX 600 series). It's more driver's-dependant than Windows. Try out dual boot installation, but DXVK on 2-core processor might not work too good, I'm afraid. And at this point i'm not installing multiple OSes on that PC, when i have my much more modern main PC nearby. The goal of an older PC is to run older stuff of that era on it.
