Does Modern Warfare II SP still require a constant internet connection?

During the Early Access if was impossible to play the campaign offline and according to PCGW it is still true for several previous CoD games, but now I've seen claims that now you can play MWII offline... Can anyone confirm? Steam only, or the BN version too? And what about other CoD games?

Yes, the 2022 Modern Warfare II can't be played offline.

this person claims that single player works fine offline... I need more data.
