gorilli09 1 Share Posted January 26, 2022 Someone needs to create a list of games made for people who have disabilities. Reply (Quote)
SirYodaJedi 14 Share Posted January 26, 2022 That's... a bit of a generalization; there are a gazillion types of disabilities, and a game that is accessible to one group of disabled individuals may not be accessible to a different group of disabled individuals. That said, someone was working on adding more accessibility options to the stuff that is documented about the games (like how we have boxes for colorblind mode and closed caption support), I don't know how that's coming along, but I'd love to see it implemented. Dandelion Sprout 13 Share Posted January 27, 2022 I am aware of https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Category:Audio-based for blind people, but not of any lists for e.g. people with one hand, among many other things. Reply (Quote)
magikgimp 2 Share Posted February 7, 2022 A very worthy cause but yes, very difficult to implement because of such diverse "barriers to entry". Even websites for disabled gamers don't have a searchable database for each and every disability. This one has very comprehensive reviews for quite a few games though- https://caniplaythat.com/category/accessibility-reviews/ Sadly (shamefully?) this is actually mostly a modern phenomena. I can't think of many games older than 10 years that had any accessibility features whatsoever. I may be wrong but I doubt they were as comprehensive as they are today. And even then, as you can see from the reviews, they can still not be as good as they could be. Reply (Quote)
zaphero 1 Share Posted February 7, 2022 On the ones that are already covered, like remapping, simultaneous support, closed captions, and subtitles, could a page be made to more easily search what games have such support? At the moment the only way to do that seems to be going through the very hard to read properties pages or just searching each game individually. Heck, letting you filter by supported subtitle languages could prove very useful to do, especially if the list let you filter based on name easily. https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Property:Closed_captions Reply (Quote)
Dandelion Sprout 13 Share Posted February 8, 2022 • Simultaneous support: https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/List_of_games_that_support_simultaneous_input • English closed captioning: https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/List_of_games_that_support_closed_captioning • Controller remapping: https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/List_of_games_that_support_controller_remapping • Keyboard remapping: Such a list can be made with ease, but I need some sleep first. • Making lists for each subtitle language could get crowded fairly fast. A workaround is to go to https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Special:Drilldown/L10n?Subtitles=true and select a language from there.
