stuttgart 3 Share Posted November 7, 2021 What to do when there are several game series that are totally distinct, yet would logically get the same name? My case: There is already the series "The Fall" for these games: https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Series:The_Fall But the already existing and totally distinct game https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/The_Fall:_Last_Days_of_Gaia has a sequel/spin-off for which I just created the article: https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/The_Fall:_Mutant_City Now I wanted to add a series for those two games, but "The Fall" already exists for those two other games. What to do in such a case? Reply (Quote)
Rose 273 Share Posted November 7, 2021 I would try to establish whether the series or the universe may be referred to as something different by the developers. MobyGames appears to have solved the issue by naming it The Last Days of Gaia series, though another possible approach is naming it The Fall (Silver Style) or something to that effect. This is just my take though, as I cannot think of any precedent, let alone any relevant guidelines on PCGW. Reply (Quote)
Garrett 214 Share Posted November 7, 2021 While there is no guideline for this, most series name clashes have been resolved by having the series name end with the developer (or publisher, or whatever is suitable), e.g. Series:Dracula (Frogwares) - this also has a disambig for the other (unrelated) Dracula series.
