AnotherGills 25 Share Posted August 12, 2019 Nightdive Studios has announced a new release of System Shock 2 on Twitter, entitled System Shock 2 Enhanced Edition. Nightdive is no stranger to re-releasing updated versions of classic first-person shooters, having released titles such as System Shock: Enhanced Edition (a modern source port of System Shock's first entry), Blood: Fresh Supply, and Forsaken Remastered. No other information has been provided regarding release date, or platform (though a PC release is a very safe assumption). Of course, System Shock 2 has received countless community-developed modifications, including graphical revamping. With Forsaken Remastered (Nightdive's most recent full 3D re-release), rather than massively rework the visuals, the development team opted to add modern features such as support for high frame rates, ultrawide monitors, as well as three rendering APIs (Direct3D 11, OpenGL 3.2, and Vulkan 1.0). With this track record in mind, System Shock 2 Enhanced Edition will likely be a release intended to alleviate issues associated with the original release's age.
