AnotherGills 25 Share Posted July 11, 2019 Ion Fury, formerly known as Ion Maiden, will be leaving Steam Early Access on August 15, 2019, entering it’s 1.0 revision. Ion Fury is notable due to developer Voidpoint’s selection of engine. The developers have chosen the Build engine, best known for powering titles such as Duke Nukem 3D, Shadow Warrior, and Blood. Ion Fury will be the first commercially-released Build powered game in nearly two decades. The change of title from Ion Maiden to Ion Fury stems from an attempted lawsuit by the band Iron Maiden, who claimed Ion Maiden was using a “virtually identical imitation of the Iron Maiden trademark”. In response, Mike Nielsen, CEO of 3D Realms, released a statement regarding the renaming. Quote “After careful consideration, we’ve decided to rename our first-person-shooter “Ion Maiden” to “Ion Fury,” A lot of thought went into this, but most importantly it would be a disservice to our loyal fanbase and the fantastic developers, to drag out a long lawsuit. The amazing gameplay, interactivity and pure fun, is what makes Ion Fury a great game. Not the title.” Will you be picking up Ion Fury?
