102 dalmatians no longer works on windows 10???

i just recently set up 102 dalmatians: puppies to the rescue on my windows 10 install, but now whenever i run Pcdogs.exe, the game always shows a black screen for a few seconds before closing

after doing some googling i found someone with a similar issue and apparently they solved it by setting the compatibility mode to windows 98 and running as an administrator, which of course i tried....to no avail

this is even weirder because i've gotten the game to work before on windows 10, even adding some improvements suggested by pcgw, but only just now is it choosing not to work on my windows 10 install so i'm kind of at a crossroads here

This might help with that, was experiencing a similar thing and now the game is 100% playable on modern windows.

tried that with a clean install but it still didn't work

game still opened to a few seconds of blank screen, then closed entirely

So there is some more things that you can do, particularly important it seems especially with the installer that was sent, is that the retail disc of the English copy of the game is needed this part was very curtail for me to get the game to run. Seems there are some copy's around online of the game which could be corrupt and causing issues.

You can also try to unplug any controllers then try the game again.

Since its installing to the C drive also we could right click on the games installation folder which should be C:\Program Files (x86)\Disney Interactive  then right click the folder (102 Dalmatians) Properties -> uncheck read only and apply. Then head to the security tab -> what I would do is hit the edit button and then check all security permissions for all of the groups and usernames just make sure they are all checked then again apply and hit ok. try to run the game again after that.

With the Elisha wrapper use only one monitor (also that fix is important for stopping crashing issues.) The DXwrapper

You could try the installer again but without the two enhancements checked or try either one at a time.

Seems like this game is quite fiddly in modern windows but I would personally narrow it down to some of these being the culprit.

If any one of these edits would work it would be super helpful to know which of them actually was the reason in the end and hopefully one of them will get the game to run for you again!
