Robot Enthusiast 0 Share Posted January 24, 2024 Why does this game not have an "issues unresolved" section? Whenever I try to go to the Graphics menu, the game crashes to desktop. Apparently I can access the other menus in the Video section, the Graphics menu (which has a screenshot in the game's PCGamingWiki article) is the only one that I can't access no matter what, I tried vanilla game, using dgVoodoo2 and widescreen fix, nothing, same result. And apparently I'm not the only one having this issue as I've seen multiple people on the internet having this issue and I've tried all releases of Project IGI (original NA & EU releases and the EU re-release) and they all crash at the exact same point. I'm on Windows 11 and was previously on 10 before upgrading a year ago, both have pretty much the same issue (not really sure if it's a compatibility issue with Windows version history though, but I suspect it is). thatotherguyagain 0 Share Posted November 30, 2024 This is a great game, though this specific issue is rare such that I haven't seen any solutions posted! I had this issue and found a resolve in late 2024 - the compatibility needs to use Win 98/Me with admin rights, not win XP. I have the original DVD from release day and played on XP SP2, SP3, Win 7 x64, and Win 10 x64 previously... I'm not sure what changed for this. From Win 7 onwards the default recommendation was to install using XP SP2 or SP3 compatibility mode with admin rights. When I loaded my previous install today, the game would not allow the graphics menus to access and CTD. All other menus were fine, as was actually loading into the game (albeit at default res and graphics settings since obviously couldn't be accessed). Additional resolutions were obviously not available. The game exe now needs to be placed in compatibility with 98/ME and admin rights - not XP. The graphics menus can then be accessed without CTD and the game loads up. Not sure about widescreen fixes - haven't had much luck with those!
