Infernal Machine is a very old game that stores its settings in the registry. Some versions may experience some settings not saving and defaulting back to the previous settings every game startup. This is because the game is failing to write to the registry for some reason. The Reg files contained here will change the settings that tend to not save properly, to their max values. This will result in the game being set to max settings by default at every game startup. Note: This will not change any user configured values such as control set, difficulty, hints, map rotation, subtitles, resolution, and having Indy run by default. Those for the most part still properly function, these only change the settings I noticed do not get saved. What the reg files do: Sets color depth to 32-bit Color. Enables Trilinear Filtering. Sets performance to "Very Fast." Enables Triple Buffering. Disables fog entirely. This is because it can cause everything to turn grey on some systems. Enables 3D Sound. (You will need a DirectSound wrapper for this, otherwise the game will always force off) Installation: Note: Two files are provided for the disc version of the game; CD and CD Alt. They save to two different registry paths. Try the other if one does not work. They are only for the disc version. Download the archive and extract the reg file corresponding to the version of the game you have (Steam, GOG, or CD/Disc). Double click on the reg file. If that does not work, open the reg file with the Registry Editor. The files can be opened with any text editor to view its contents.
