Hi! The file works. However, it is possible to change Japanese text to English but keep the Japanese voice? If not, I understand. Thank you for the file.

Sorry, I implemented Chinese language & Japanese voice because the Chinese language calls and covers Japanese text. For other language solutions, I recommend referring to the Japaneseization method in the guide. But according to my experiments, it seems that Japanese dubbing can only be used in the Chinese translation patch and Japanese language.

I see. Thank you for your reply.

I thought about it, maybe you can try to follow the Japanese dubbing file mentioned in the Japaneseization tutorial, that is:

Binary Domain\sound\stream_jp.cpk
Binary Domain\sound\se_jp.par

Rename it to (note the backup):

Binary Domain\sound\stream.cpk
Binary Domain\sound\se.par

This may be possible in an English environment, but since there is no means of unpacking par files and cpk files, it is not certain that this method will work.

I figured it out! You just need to go to string_tbl and rename string_tbl_en.stb to string_tbl_jp.stb. Now I got English Text with Japanese Voice. I appreciate your support.

The one in the update folder might need to be renamed too.

Thanks for the help both of you. I was attempting to do this years ago, but didn't realize the localization value in registry affects anything.

If you want, you can share this method on the game's wiki page, I think someone will like to see it 🙂

I've tried using this file and method several times, I've even tried the original method (the one from the Japanese site that has you edit the registry). I can either get it to do nothing (but the game still works) or it will just crash after the Sega logo. Nothing happens if I mess with just the exe and installscript.vdf (with write protect), and the crash occurs with the registry method (even without changing the installscript). I have the stream_jp/se_jp files in the right place. I'm on Windows 10 64bit. Is there something I'm missing?

I'm sorry I may not be able to help you. When I was testing, I just followed the steps in the tutorial on the Japanese website and improved them.

Have you installed it in a sandbox or pure Windows? This can eliminate some system-related causes and may help you locate the problem.

I tried it on 3 different computers with the same results. I think the problem could be with the DLC. I only have the Dan Marshall Pack, which DLC(s) do you have? (note that I have tried disabling the DLC with no luck).
