I've downloaded the PC fix and tried to extract the files but every time I try to extract I keep getting a message telling me that I need to input a password to extract the files. I was wondering if I need the password to continue.

Having a handful of issues with this patch, summarized as, options menu changes do not take in the cases of turning off the Low Health indicator, setting lens flare effect quality and shadows on or off.

Additionally, perhaps it goes beyond the scope of this project, but I thought the low health indicator looked stretched unlike all the other 2D elements that have been patched to display correctly. Take care.

You can change "RegenerateDisp" in the ini to save lens flare and shadow quality. The low health indicator option not saving is an original game bug. Yes the indicator is stretched and that is unlikely to change.

Thank you for letting me know, I managed to change the health indicator display through changing other options at the same time and then it registered.

May I ask what's the point of RegenerateDisp?

Hello, the mod is awesome and seems to be doing wonders. My concern is I don't see any notifications for when I get an achievement. I do hear the sound though. What would I have to do fix that?

Hello. So I've been having problems with the game since version 2.6.4. Everything ran smooth as butter before this version and I had no issues whatsoever. Until version 2.6.4 and the most recent one. The game slows down when the flashlight is facing the camera at random places in the game, but where it happens the most for me is after burning the picture on the wall during the otherworld section in the office building. As soon I enter the door behind the picture and the flashlight is facing towards the camera, it slows down everything and my frames drop as well. I did not have this issue whatsoever with the old version before 2.6.4. As soon I downloaded the new version, copy and pasted the files in the game's archive, this started happening. Plus when I run SH3FileValidator.exe it says the game's exe is invalid, yet the pcfix.ini works. I have DOF, Shadow, Inventory and Status Screen resolution to the max even before this started happening, so it's definitely not an issue perfomance wise and the flashlight thing didn't happen at all. I also have DirectX12 active. Of course I still tested and changed values of all the options that lower perfomance, but its still the same issue. I've also reinstalled the game files and everything completely as well, yet its still there. I am not sure what to do or if it's a me issue.

Have you tried disabling DirectX 12? Interesting that your sh3.exe is reported as invalid. Where did you get the game from?

I tried disabling DirectX12 and the game runs so much worse unfortunately. I got the game from My Abandonware, the DVD European Version. Also for the exe showing it's invalid, it was an error on my part since as soon I installed the files, I added in the fix. So as soon I replaced the launcher with the cracked one, that error would appear. But I did it correctly now and that doesn't appear anymore. However the flashlight issue is still there from time to time. I am not really sure what it could be. Also... As soon I disabled DirectX12 and exit the game to reactivate it again, when I try to enter the game an error appears "Failed to load game mod dll" and instantly removes Silent_Hill_3_PC_Fix.dll from the archive and everywhere. I've reinstalled it and still the same issue :/. lol everyday it keeps getting worse

Running it on a laptop I had similar issues but not so much on a tower, my recommendations:

Set Shadow Resolution to 512, everyone should do this anyway to restore the soft shadows.

Disable RegenerateDisp, (so you can change ingame settings) then go ingame and turn lens flare quality to low, that effect for whatever reason seems to be the culprit on lower end rigs.

On a tower I found I could set this to high and it mostly runs fine, but definitely something funky going on.

I managed to find the source of the problem with the issues I had and now everything works correctly. Thank you both of you for the support regardless. 🙂

once again i come to seek wisdom for my issues from the deep oracles only to find the same words: "nvm fixed it, closing thread"

Edit: just to not be a hypocrite - for anyone having issues with one of the DLLs vanishing, just check your Windows Defender. It likes to delete files without even notifying you. That's at least the "Failed to load game mod dll!" issue fixed. 😉
