Anno 2205 won't start

Anno 2005 used to work properly, but after a few months when I reinstalled it, it just won't start.

I can see it running as a background process, but nothing else happens. I have to wait for about 5 minutes and then it starts.

 

Any idea what causes it and how to fix it?
