I got Super Trainer to work as it doesn't use dinput8, which ddmk uses as well, but the menus are not fully on screen, the hud in game is large, and you can't see your weapons as you swap through them, but the gameplay resolution is good and the super trainer works.

It's a little weird, but if you really wanna play DMC4SE with a trainer and ultra wide fix, this is probably the best way unless this mod author were to someone make it compatible.

Hmmm. Now that I'm using it, the game crashes without an error message after like 5 minutes consistently now. TBH the gameplay changes from super trainer aren't that good or varied. I'm gonna stick to vanilla for playing Nero/Dante with hook and I'll just stick with the widescreen support but no mods for SE to play Vergil and the girls.

had this working last night after downloading but today i can't get DMC4SE to run with this fix, even after reinstalling/verifying files etc.  3840x1600

i've tinkered with SUWSF.ini just to try and troubleshoot which patch is causing ctd and it seems to be patch 1, the game boots with 2 and 3 still enabled

any insight or advice would be greatly appreciated

I managed to get this working.

Step 1:

Downgrade the game, i chose to downgrade to 2019 not sure if the 2015/2023 downgrade works but you can try it - https://github.com/serpentiem/ddmk/issues/350#issuecomment-2298868097

Step 2:

• Use a hex editor on the new DevilMayCry4SpecialEdition.exe
• Search for 6964AC (hex mode) or 6907052 (decimal mode)
• The following hex values should be visible at the location: 80 02 00 00
• If your native resolution is 3440x1440 change 80 02 00 00 to 00 0A 00 00. If your native resolution is 2560×1080 change 80 02 00 00 to 80 07 00 00 if your native resolution is 5120x2160 change 80 02 00 00 to 00 0F 00 00

Step 3:

• Now edit your config
• Go to C:\Users\USERNAME-PC\AppData\Local\CAPCOM\DEVILMAYCRY4SPECIALEDITION
• Open the config
• Under [DISPLAY] aspect ratio should be Aspect=16:9
• Resolution should be the non ultrawide version of your monitor so 3440x1440 is Resolution=2560x1440, 2560×1080 is Resolution=1920x1080, 5120x2160 is Resolution=3840x2160

Step 4:

• Install the mod
• Then open SUWSF.ini
• Set the resolution to your monitors native resolution i.e. Resolution="3440x1440", Resolution="2560x1080", Resolution="5120x2160"
• Then disable patch 2 this is what's causing then game UI to go offscreen and giving you black bars this patch is out dated so unless someone can figure out what the hex values should be changed to you need to turn it off under [Patch:2] Enabled=false

Step 5:

You can finally play the game in glorious ultrawide!!!
