newtothis 0 Posted September 1, 2020 I've recently been thinking about buying a lower end pc to run some classic games like System Shock 2 and the Half Life games (the first two not Alyx). Was just wondering what kind of PC I would need to run these games and how much it would cost? Thank You
Aemony 92 Posted September 1, 2020 Basically any specs for any computer released within the last decade would most likely do for those titles. The most "demanding" title of those are Half-Life 2, and even that one is playable on most systems nowadays.

Thank You, could you tell me any specific components I would need cos I'm completely new to PC gaming and wouldn't even know where to start.

tech geek 0 Posted September 28, 2020 I saw this a while back and wanted to make an account to reply, but my internet connection had been out till now. But I just made it and would be happy to help if you still need advice on choosing parts, or if you have done so, with assembling the build, I love giving advice on PC building! Decide on a budget for the build as well as if you have any existing part you want to carry on to your new build, such as your case, monitor, or peripherals (keyboard, mouse, etc.). I am completely free and willing to advice if you still want to know. Also, if you're interested in seeing what components are available to buy and for how much, or in a specific region or country as well, you can check out this site https://pcpartpicker.com/ and then I can give context to what's what. (select location from top right corner) Don't hesitate to ask. Glad to have you building your own PC! Enjoy!

playingmaster99 0 Posted December 4, 2020 Invest a little more and get a better computer. I've never heard anyone complain about having too much Ram.
tech geek 0 Posted December 7, 2020 I have given "newtothis" a lot of advice, but they haven't yet seen or replied yet, might be busy with the pandemic. Thanks for chiming in, while those games aren't considered taxing anymore, I wanted them to consider "how" a game would run on a certain PC, rather than "can". That is, consider variables like the game in question, which stage/level/part that is the most taxing or representative of most of the game(play), its settings, framerate (refresh rate for the screen, framtime for consistency), resolution. They stated a certain budget, which was enough to meet the official requirements, no doubt, but I just wanted them to have the best/fastest configuration possible they could afford, that way they could play newer more demanding games if they ever want to. I added you all to the conversation to give context, tell me if that was inconvinient, sorry.
