ID Improvements

Recommended Posts

I'm not a programmer so I apologize if this is an impossible request or sounds idiotic on my part. I'd like for the ID template in Availability to improved in the following ways:

1) Add the Mac App Store, Gamefly, Impulse, and Green Man Gaming, among other stores, that are currently missing. This problem is particularly evident on the SPAZ page where the Availability chart is fairly large.

2) Make the ID capitalization not matter and/or add more variations. Currently images are limited to only a single version (DRM-free, Gog, etc.). What I'd like is the ability to type DRMFREE, DRMfree, DRM-Free, DRM-free, or drmfree and get the same image every time. This wouldn't change the end user experience but would make setting the store row a lot easier. Currently for stores I use less often I have to search around for the correct capitalization and that's a pain. If you can change the template to allow this I'd be very thankful.

I have added Green Man Gaming, GameStop PC Downloads (new name of Impulse) and Mac App Store. I didn't add Mac Game Store since that's the only page that has it.

I have updated the template to be case-insensitive (Gog, gog and GOG will all produce the same result, etc.); you can find the complete list of recognised names at Template:Distributor.

Thank you so much! I'll improve previous pages soon. Unfortunately now I've discovered a new problem that I believe to be in some way causes by the Template. Certain URLs aren't recognized by the template which causes problems. See the Psychonauts and Cubemen pages with the Mac App Store for examples.

The problem I'm having is that it'll display when I put an incorrect URL, such as [https], but not the correct one, [https]. I believe this is because of the extra characters such as the equals sign. This also caused problems in the fixbox template, but this time can not be fixed in the same way the Fixbox was (the addition of 1= to the top of the template).

Mac App Store links can be simplified by removing the question mark and everything after it, so it becomes https://itunes.apple.com/app/cubemen/id466248661

This works for Steam too, and possibly some others that sometimes generate an equals sign.

For stores where this isn't possible simply number every parameter, so in this case it's |1= (the link), |2= (the ID template), and |3= (the notes).
