  1. Alpha Protocol, one of Obsidian's game more interesting RPG marred by a buggy launch, has been delisted from Steam. If you visit the Alpha Protocol page now, you won't be able to buy the game but you'll be faced with this message: The message is quite mysterious - we can only guess what the next move will be - a remastering on Steam at a higher price? A re-release on Microsoft Store now that Obsidian is owned by Microsoft? Thankfully you can still buy the Steam version through third parter sellers like Gamesplanet for now, at the princely sum of £2.50. Also check out our fixes a
  2. The latest Steam update has enabled 'Steam Remote Play' which is the new name for 'In-Home Streaming' which now works outside the home. Here are the details: Streaming games from your PC to outside the home was always possible using aplications like Moonlight or even setting up a VPN with Steam's In-Home Streaming. However this new update makes everything work natively with remote devices including Steam installed on PCs or Steam Link mobile app for iOS and Android.
  3. According to SteamDB, the new Steam UI interface has "leaked through an update to the Chinese CS:GO launcher”. What do you think of the changes? I for one will be glad as it looks like they are making much better use of the horizontal space, which my 3440x1440 monitor will appreciate!
  4. Hi, This is Bhavin. I wanted to share the launch update of our game Sniper Rust VR. The full version update for Steam and Oculus will be launched on January 9, 2019, and the Vive version will be launched on January 9, 2019. There are free demos available as well for each Oculus, Steam and Vive. Sniper Rust VR is the first-of-its-kind, sharpshooting experience for Virtual Reality devices. It puts players directly behind the scope of a skilled marksman in this incredibly realistic, first-person sniping experience. Experience immersive VR gameplay featuring a variety of realistic weap
  5. Valve have changed the name of the 'Steam Controller API' to 'Steam Input API'. The wiki still has the old name, could it be updated please? :) https://partner.steamgames.com/doc/features/steam_controller
  6. Hello, I tried doing the second part of the steam overlay bug fix to get the overlay working, by turning off GL extensions but Quake 3 crashes. Also, I tried out Quake 3 on my laptop today and it worked just fine with the Steam overlay. I didn't have to change anything, either in steam or in game. My laptop's specs: Intel i5 processor Intel HD 3000 graphics Windows 7 64 bit. My desktop's specs: AMD FX 4300 ATI 5770 graphics card Windows 7 64 bit. I have the 1.32 Point Release patch. My question is what is going on and how can I fix it? I posted this same question on the Steam for

  8. It would be very helpful for user to know which games are restricted in specific countries on steam. I don't mean CIS and ROW games, more like games affected by 3rd party DRM like GFWL, publisher decision or even something as strange as auto-locked in Japan unless dev/pub manually set it as available in Japan.
  9. Original PCGamesN Source According to Steam's stats page the peak for today was 7,190,525 at once. Last year, on November 26, 2012, the concurrent peak hit 6 million at once. That's a growth of 1 million constant users over one year (plus a few days). This comes just one month after Steam reached the milestone of 65 million registered users, rising over Xbox Live for the first time. (Source: IGN) I couldn't find any solid, recent numbers on the concurrent peaks of PSN and Xbox Live. If anyone has sources for those I'll add them to this post.
  10. Steam Review scores will be shown alongside Metacritic scores on the actual game store page: Interestingly, unlike on Steam Discussions, developers won't be able to directly censor user's written content about their game: Developers will be able to respond to reviews and also have the power to mark as abuse or spam: We sincerely hope that Steam Reviews aren't abused and don't degenerate into the realms of Metacritic user scores or poor Amazon product reviews. More information about Steam Reviews can be found on this page.

  14. Steam Family sharing started its Beta access and few lucky accounts can try this new feature. How it works, what do you need to do, what the limitations are and other burning questions we can answer. So how do you share your library with a friend? Unfortunately, one of the big drawbacks is that you will need to have logged into your Steam account onto your friend's machine at least once. Let's say Alice has a game that Bob really wants to play. Alice needs to visit Bob, log in onto Bob's computer with her Steam account and then authorize Bob's computer. Let's say Alice has a game that Bob really wants to play. Alice needs to visit Bob, log in onto Bob's computer with her Steam account and then authorize Bob's computer. Many believed that you can request authorization via Steam profile pages but that is unfortunately not the case. There is an option to request access via email, but again, the person you'd want to borrow a game from needs to have to
  16. Valve have announced the spec (or should I say, specs) for their own prototype Steam Machine (the very same being sent out to 300 lucky beta testers (cough, winners).Multiple specs are being released with the following components: GPU: some units with NVidia Titan, some GTX780, some GTX760, and some GTX660 CPU: some boxes with Intel i7-4770, some i5-4570, and some i3 RAM: 16GB DDR3-1600 (CPU), 3GB GDDR5 (GPU) Storage: 1TB/8GB Hybrid SSHD Power Supply: Internal 450w 80Plus Gold Dimensions: approx. 12 x 12.4 x 2.9 in high It's interesting that Valve have chosen to supply a single standardis

Valve have released their third and final announcement for the Steam Controller, a new proprietary controller. The controller is unique in employing dual trackpads as opposed to the more traiditional dual analogue sticks: Another innovative feature is the centralised touchscreen: Download attachment: steamcontroller2.jpg Another feature includes specialised haptics within each touchscreen: Thoughts A bold move from Valve to try and reinvent the controller and make it more accessible for traditional mouse-based games. However I'm a little bit confused about how the controller will function with Xbox/PlayStation titles, especially as the 8 face buttons are effectively gone (4 D-pad buttons, 4 face buttons) and have been
  20. Valve have announced that they will enter the hardware space in 2014 with their own SteamOS device. Not only are Valve creating their own device, they have also announced a new range made by third parties which they are calling Steam Machines with the choice of "multiple SteamOS machines to choose from, made by different manufacturers". Valve are keeping details of their prototype close to their chest, and we can only speculate as to what kind of specifications it will have. They merely mention that "there will ultimately be several boxes to choose from, with an array of specifications, pr

  22. First in the series of planned announcements, Valve has announced SteamOS, SteamOS is a brand new operating system based on Linux that's designed to be used in the living room. New features to SteamOS and Steam include:In-home Streaming Local streaming is a clever way of circumventing the issue of compatibility with the vast library of non-Linux Steam games. The tech exists and it's solid - it's comparable to the WiFi streaming function of an Nvidia Shield (hopefully without the ridiculous tech requirements) or the streaming capability of the PlayStation 4 and Vita, where a beefy bas

Music, TV, Movies Another interesting feature that may put the (yet unannounced) device in competition with other devices like Apple TV
