    Unreal Gold: Higher Quality Icon

    Version 2.1

    30 downloads

This icon is a replacement for the original 4-bit icon for Unreal Gold and Unreal 227. It uses the 24-bit Unreal Emblem.jpg from the GOG version's bonus avatars. Comparison: https://community.pcgamingwiki.com/gallery/album/138-unreal-gold-icon-comparison/ Scroll to zoom

    Chex Quest 3 icon

    Version 1.02

    13 downloads

The freeware release of Chex Quest 3 includes a unique icon in the executable. I have extracted it for convenience when using newer source ports, so that you don't need to keep the old executable around. chex3.ico is the original icon from the executable, reformatted as a multi-icon ico file. chex3_XL.ico is a nearest neighbor upscaled version so that it stays crisper on Windows Vista and newer. ball.rar contains icons that make a spinning ball sprite that was included in the executable for some reason.

    Resolutions specification

To compound upon what Mirh said (3 years ago!), there are different use cases when I would want to know if 4K or 2160p are supported. Let's assume I have a 3840x2160 monitor (even though I don't). Vertical Resolution - 2160p: Many older games are designed for a 4:3 resolution. Even if the HUD doesn't get stretched at widescreen resolutions, I still have to deal with altered FOVs and potential culling that would make an experience not go down as intended. For this reason, I would see if the game can run at 2880x2160. This isn't a truly "4K" resolution, but it has the same vertical resolution as my monitor, so I still have a nice crisp image. Horizontal Resolution - "4K": Maybe there is a new game out that I can't quite play at native resolution with an acceptable frame rate on my 3840x2160 monitor. I might try to play it at 3840x1600 instead, as the reduction in vertical resolution means that I can reduce the load on the GPU. Despite this, I am still playing at "4K", and the horizontal resolution matches that of my monitor, so I don't need to deal with image scaling.

Adds the main menu music from the Xbox release, an option to pick a red lightsaber, an option to subtitle all voiceovers, and a projected shadows option. Extract the file and place the .pk3 file in <path-to-game>\GameData\base\ to enable. The freeware release of X-Men: Ravages of Apocalypse is missing the music from the original CD release. As such, the music is provided here in formats supported by most source ports. Source: https://www.quaddicted.com/files/music/xmen_music_flac.zip. Renamed and reorganized to work correctly with QuakeSpasm. OGG version recommended for use with source ports to minimize file size while maintaining quality. Use WAV version if burning CD or converting to another format.
  12. Version 2.0

By default, the GOG release (and probably the Steam release) of Galactic Battlegrounds Saga includes music, but rather than using the CD Audio from the Clone Campaigns expansion disc or the second disc of the "Galactic Battlegrounds Saga" combo re-release, it uses the CD Audio from the original 2001 release. This means that the audio track that plays during gameplay is 7 minutes and 28 seconds shorter and doesn't contain any music from Attack of the Clones. The music here has been ripped from the second disc of the "Galactic Battlegrounds Saga" release of the game, put through an error checker, and converted to a 500 kbps Ogg Vorbis file. To use in the GOG release of the game, simply extract the contents of the RAR archive to the installation folder using 7-Zip or WinRAR.

    The Dark Tide Saga

    Version 1.01

    138 downloads

The Dark Tide is arguably the most popular campaign mod for Star Wars: Dark Forces. These archives contain all known "official" content related to the mod. Episodes 1-4 are the main campaign, and require Dark Forces to run. DarkXL is also supported, although not required. Beyond the Ancient is the bonus material released after Episode 4. It contains scrapped content from Episode 5, and even has some playable levels. Twilight on Tatooine is a multiplayer map for Jedi Academy, and as such requires Jedi Academy to run. It is inspired by the second episode, and includes compositions from the mod intermixed with music from the classic trilogy and Shadows of the Empire. The soundtrack was unfortunately only released for the first two episodes. Nonetheless, it was released in General MIDI format, so I have converted it to Apple Lossless using an SC-55 soundfont and properly tagged it (I recommend dBpoweramp if you need FLACs). The original .mid files are also included, as well as the nice track from Twilight on Tatooine. Originally downloaded from df-21.net.

    Battlefront II icon

    Version 1.01

    93 downloads

The patched version of Battlefront II that supports multiplayer over Galaxy does not include the original icon. For convenience (so that you don't need to manually rollback to the older version to grab the exe), I have extracted the icons from the original executable and provided them for download here. Battlefront II.ico contains all the original icons from the original executable. Setting a shortcut icon to use this icon should work the same way as setting it to use the original .exe. Battlefront II_256.ico and Battlefront_512.ico are the same as Battlefront II.ico, except the contain versions of the highest resolution original resized using integer scaling to multiple higher resolutions, with the highest resolution for each being 256x256 and 512x512, respectively. They are provided so that the icons are nice and big if your desktop is set to Large Icons or File Explorer is set to Extra-Large Icons.

    Yume Nikki icon scaling fix

    Version 1.0

    68 downloads

By default, the icon for the original Yume Nikki as found on Steam is blurry, due to how Windows scales icons. I won't bore you with the details, but basically, the icon uses a 16x16 graphic integer scaled to 32x32, which Windows then scales linearly to 48x48. TL;DR: Download Yume Nikki.ico. The others are just there to demonstrate how Windows scales icons.

    MDK Icon

    Version 1.02

    127 downloads

The Windows version of the GOG release doesn't include the original icon, so I have provided it here, as extracted from the OS X release's .dmg archive. MDK.ICO is the original. MDK_256.ICO is the same as MDK.ICO, but integer-upscaled to 256x256 for use in Vista and newer. MDK_TRN.ICO replaces the white parts of the original with transparency. It still is 4-bit (no alpha channel), but might look nicer on systems that don't support 32-bit icons. MDK_TRN_256.ICO is the same as MDK_TRN.ICO, but integer-upscaled to 256x256 for use in Vista and newer. MDK_HQ.ICO is a revamped version of MDK_TRN.ICO that uses proper 32-bit translucency for the grey pixels. The opacity values were determined based of RGB values of the pixels, so it will look identical on a pure white background. MDK_HQ_256.ICO is the same as MDK_HQ.ICO, but integer-upscaled to 256x256 for use in Vista and newer. This fixes the issue where the translucency causes the icon to become much blurrier. MDK_HQ.png is a .png version of MDK_HQ.ICO. This might be necessary for Steam. Note that the versions with translucency will cause Kurt to be invisible if the deskop background is set to black or File Explorer is in dark mode. If this is an issue, use either MDK.ICO or MDK_256.ICO.

    RPA Extractor for Windows

    Version

    554 downloads

A command line program for Windows that can extract files from the .rpa archives used by Ren'Py. This can be useful on this wiki to determine the native resolution of assets. Instructions on how to use the program have been added to the !ReadMe!.txt. Being a command line program, basic understanding of advanced Windows features is required. Compiled version of https://github.com/Shizmob/rpatool, although I'm not sure who compiled it, much less where I downloaded it. The readme says it was compiled by Sn34kyMofo, although the included link to the site seems to be bad.
