Pendragon got a reaction from Nasrath in Witcher 3 to be DRM-free
Today CD Projekt RED announced on their site that Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will be 100% DRM-free.On an announcement on CD Projekt RED’s official blog, Marcin Iwinski stated: “I’d like to say it loud and clear: The PC version of The Witcher 3 will have absolutely no DRM from day 0. Zero. Zip. Nada. It doesn’t matter if you choose to buy it on GOG.com and support us directly or buy the game in box format, you’ll still get the 100% DRM-free experience.â€

There is no word yet on whether this will include a Steam version as well.

Anyone who owns The Witcher or The Witcher 2 from Steam or other retailers can download DRM-free versions by activating the games on GOG.com.

Pendragon got a reaction from WilliamauUndip in What's the origin of your name?
In high school, I was reading a lot of King Arthur stories, I found a lot of personal meaning in them. In gaming, I used different names all the time, I was changing names about once a week or so. Never really getting close to a community. I ended up being recruited into a clan, and having to pick a name. I didn't want to use one of my other names, in case the clan didn't work out, so I wanted to pick something new and distinct. So I turned to King Arthur for inspiration. I didn't want to use King_Arthur as a name, it sounded ridiculous, wanted something that sounded knightly but not silly. I ended up picking Pendragon, and vaguely telling people it was after Uther Pendragon. It was also a nod to my love of dragons, and slightly similar to my actual name.

I never thought the name would stick, I thought it would be something I used for a few weeks. That was over a decade ago. It just got to be another name I used, I got comfortable with it, even if people started using the nickname "Penny" on me. I have since forgotten those old legends, I don't read them as much anymore. I've used many other names since then, but I do come back to this persona every time. Lately I've tried going public and not using an Internet persona, but this one still sticks with me. I've been Pendragon for a long time now, and I expect I will stay Pendragon for much longer.

Pendragon reacted to Garrett in Bioshock 2 Steam update removes GFWL, gives away Minerva's Den DLC to previous owners
Fallout 3 doesn't actually rely on GFWL (due to being a very early title) so it can be disabled with FOSE or other methods.

Also remember that all GFWL games can be played with a local profile except for Bulletstorm, Age of Empires Online and Microsoft Flight; local profiles don't interact with GFWL at all (after the initial online activation of the DRM, if applicable), which cuts out all sorts of potential problems.

I've reworded it to make it clearer that Steam lacks both GFWL and SecuROM. :)

Today, Bioshock 2 was migrated to Steamworks. All keys, retail and digital, can now be activated on Steam. The Steam version no longer uses Games for Windows Live or SecuROM DRM.

The update includes new multiplayer changes, Xbox 360 Controller support, Steam achievements, and removal of GFWL. GFWL saves and achievements do not transfer to the new version.

The Steam version includes the DLCs. Anyone who activates an existing key will get Minerva's Den for free; future keys or Steam purchases will not include Minerva's Den. Minerva's Den is now available on Steam for $9.99 USD.

Fantastic news - I only recently finished the main campaign of BioShock 2, but I was forced to disable GFWL (due to some issues with it logging me in), and I missed out on Minerva's Den which I had heard so many good things about. I look forward to trying it out very soon.

I wonder what the implications are for other GFWL titles that are still in high demand, e.g. Fallout 3 and Dark Souls. Will they be getting similar Steam treatment?
