  1. Really sad I didn't get into the first round. Can you customize cover art yet? Anyone know the exact dimensions in use? How about background images?

  3. Are the people who can't download or maybe can't update Metro not on 1903 Windows? Maybe you need that plus the Xbox app beta? Just throwing that out there. I'm going to keep waiting to try gamepass I guess.
  4. Any updates on this issue? Have the developers addressed it, or have there been any patches? I was going to pick up gamepass for a month or so to blast through this and Wolfenstein II but I guess I should wait until this gets fixed.
  5. It looks terrible. They'll never get every developer to redo every game so a bunch of stuff in your library will have that awful blurred look because the game image doesn't fit right. So far it doesn't look like you can even customize the images. I make grid images for Steam so this ruins years of work. I'm probably moving over to support GoG Galaxy 2.0 instead if it turns out to be good. At least I know the art can be customized there, and it's not that ridiculously narrow vertical strip aspect ratio.
  6. Previously the new Battlezone was VR-only. I've been playing the non-VR version that just released, though. Not sure how to handle this game. The VR and non-VR versions of the game are obviously different in terms of input methods and such. However, they are sold as one game and have only one entry in your Steam library. I'm worried about the non-VR data I'm adding because while that version supports controllers and mouse/kb for example I have no idea if the VR version does. Should I just put everything I know into the one entry, or should there be two separate entries for this game? *edit* I'm an idiot, I just saw the separate VR related section. I'll just remove the bit that says VR is required
  7. @Kiopho: You can bind your keys in-game in Origins, and you can bind actions to two different keys (which I really like). Pic Here. I don't remember having to do anything weird in Arkham City to bind my keys, it's handled through the launcher (BmLauncher.exe). Pick "settings", then the "controls" tab on the top right and you are good to go: Did you just miss that you could do that? I don't understand why you would need to dig into the config file just to change the basics like WASD. One issue with Origins is that it doesn't recognize Mouse 4 and 5, which the other games did; had to create a profile in my Logitech software to make them emulate the appropriate keypresses. You also need to tweak the config file to alter the sensitivity, though again I just did that via my mouse software.

  9. Really good article. I love the AA closeups, which show something I've noticed on recent games- FXAA has gotten really good. If you are on AMD, you can force it using RadeonPro, and on High/Ultra it is superior to in-game FXAA in Borderlands 2, or regular AA in some games like Dishonored (based on my old card, an HD6870), though there is a bit of a performance hit on Ultra. Imo RadeonPro is a must for AMD users... I'm seriously missing it, there is nothing as user-friendly for Nvidia unfortunately. I am running with a GTX760 4GB and Phenom II x6 3.2ghz right now. Nvidia's TXAA is very nice... definitely felt it was superior to the other AA methods. However, the performance drop is significant, as it combines temporal AA with some regular MSAA. So I'm just using FXAA for now. I'll try to take a few comparison shots later to compare. I also found enhanced DX11 depth of field - which has really cool bokeh lense flare effects - gave major performance hits. It looks so good in some places I am tolerating it, though. I have run into no game break bugs whatsoever at this point, no graphical bugs or texture pop-in, and no crashes, but I'm not too far into the game (just past the Deathstroke fight). I am wondering if the game is more stable on Nvidia hardware since they worked with them on it (we saw something similar with Tomb Raider, where the developer's work with AMD left the game poorly tested and optimized for Nvidia cards). Good report. *edit* Here is a .zip of screenshots taken at 1080p comparing FXAA Ultra to TXAA High. I left the FRAPS fps on them, the fps hit varies but TXAA is always less (FXAA is on left or top in all shots). And I included some closeups to make it easier to compare. They are in .bmp format, the differences are so small I didn't want compression screwing them up. Overall impressions: TXAA High is definitely superior, though it's hard to say it's worth the framerate hit. It's most noticeable in the usual places like distant details. It seems more precise than FXAA; FXAA seems to "fill in" to de-jaggie, resulting in lines and surfaces that are sometimes "bulging" slightly. TXAA maintains the proper dimensions of objects while keeping an almost flawless AA across the surface itself. The "T" is for "temporal", so I'm not sure screenshots give a full impression of how it "feels" to play with it on. Things just feel... I don't know, smoother? It almost feels like you are playing at a higher resolution if that makes any sense. So overall I'd say it's a pretty good job on Nvidia's part. FXAA (left) vs TXAA (right)
  10. No "-" prefix in this case. I think that's why you have to put it first. "-nostartupmovies benchmark" doesn't work. LOL I just tried simply putting "-benchmark" I got no startup movies (?!) but it just took me to the regular title screen. I started Story mode - Continue just out of curiosity (maybe that would run the bench) but it just started the game... except the game was running at like 2x's regular speed or something! There wasn't any sound, either. Talk about weird. Same thing happened with "-benchmark -nostartupmovies". Okay I need to wake up and get on checking that other FOV tweak...
  11. Oh, it might be worth mentioning in the benchmark section that you can combine the "benchmark" parameter with the "-nostartupmovies" one. You just have to put them in that order: benchmark -nostartupmovies for them to work. I think it's safe to assume someone benchmarking doesn't want to watch the intro movies lol

That setup worked for me, so what I did was take a series of screenshots based on each setting LDK came up with. They are the 1080p jpgs from Steam, so moderately good quality. In other works, "bm7.jpg" is a 100 fov shot. I took front and rear shots of all the FOV settings by key. 2 (75) seemed the most practical, so I took more shots of that. Again, they have "bm2" in them to let you know the FOV. Based on playing a little, I'm thinking something like 70 or 65 might be best. 75 (bound to keypad 2) seems a little far away, especially when running etc. I'll test the other solution next.   13. I'm in the middle of checking. Your instructions for the first one didn't match his post when I tried them; the FOV changed, but I lost all controls otherwise except mouse1&2 (couldn't move, bring up menu, etc). I assume because you originally just said to add the line, vs copy everything to that area first. I'll try it that way and do screenshots if it's working, then try the second solution.
  14. kk, I'll check as soon as I get a chance later. I compared to Batman:AC and I had trouble telling a difference (overlaid screenshots in Photoshop, and Batman takes up the exact same screen space, at least). So I might just be totally crazy to complain about it. But it just felt a little off to me, and I'm sure a lot of us would *prefer* wider even if it isn't any different from AC.
  15. Crap, I didn't even realize that Steam Cloud that was responsible for some of this. And key binds are in a separate file for UE3 anyway! If this keeps up it's going to make tweaking games a real pain.
  16. Bah. What stupidity on their part. Well, I've seen some of these files decrypted (I think Mortal Kombat's was, and it was UE3, right?), so it might just be a matter of time before someone with the skills takes it on. Though there may not be enough overt issues with the game (it's pretty good overall) that anyone would bother. Even if there's nothing "wrong" with a game, it's so advantageous to be able to tweak these things... :/
  17. Location, and a few issues with the game (see bits in bold). Just a little info, as usual I'm just sharing my observations here to maybe help get people in the right direction (it's late as hell). From what I can tell, if you want to modify the game's Unreal Engine 3 .ini style values, you need to change these files in the Steam folder: \Steam\steamapps\common\Batman Arkham Origins\SinglePlayer\BMGame\Config They matched my in-game settings, and the date modified suggested it was being changed as they were changed in-game. Hopefully we can tweak those files to bind mouse 4&5, which the game for some stupid reason does not recognize. Some people with Logitech controllers are having issues with inverted controls and buttons not matching up; same thing, maybe that can be fixed via those config files. I also found the FOV a bit narrow, and the camera a little too close to Batman (not sure if it has changed, but it didn't bug me in the other two games). Even if those values aren't there, we might be able to add them manually. I know UE3 has camera settings, I used them in Borderlands 2 for a 3rd person hack. There is an .xml file where you'd expect to fine the usual UE3 files, and the save file: C:\Users\username\Documents\WB Games\Batman Arkham Origins\GFXSettings.BatmanArkhamOrigins.xml It seems to simply mirror the in-game graphics options, though. That's it. So I don't know that it will be very useful. Not sure about the save game file. I had strange framerate issues, identical to those in Borderlands 2 - my framerate would go back and forth from 30 to 60. I think there was a way to fix that with framerate smoothing settings. But in both that case and Origins, simply turning off vsync (and leaving the control panel to application setting) fixed the issue. And I don't get screen tearing in either game, despite them going over 60fps much of the time. Anyway, it's 5am here and even Batman needs sleep once in a while... I'll drop by again tomorrow to see if I can contribute anything more solid. Hope some of that info is useful. Overall it's been a very good port. It runs great on my GTX760, at 1080p with PhysX on High and all DX11 effect enabled.
  18. Okay, some confusion here. I decided to see if capping the fps to 30 (vs the unusual 31 I was getting) would fix the lag. I also set the refresh rate manually to 60hz (this is all using RadeonPro). Seemed to help the lag... and also... the game is now running native 1080p fullscreen. I reset RadeonPro's settings, then restarted the game... and it's still native 1080p... Maybe switching to windowed at least once triggers/changes some setting that makes the fullscreen resolution display properly from then on? Or temporarily changing those video card settings did it? I'm really not sure how to even check this. Anyway, sorry for the rambling and whatnot. Hopefully someone else with the game will be able to finish what I started, though I'll keep my eye out for anything else useful. EDIT: One more thing; the game has no icon in Steam in either Detail or List mode. Not sure where that would go in the Wiki page.

  20. Why the registry setting hack for anti-aliasing? It's already selectable in the video options menu. Does it improve the AA beyond what the setting offers? Because I didn't feel the game's own AA was very good, doing it via my video card seemed better.
  21. "Every resolution is upscaled from 720p. See Widescreen resolution for a fix." * I can only confirm that when I set it to 1080p fullscreen, my screenshots came out 1280x720. I didn't get to try other combinations of resolutions. There are some sub-720p resolutions as well, not sure how those would work out? Anisotropic Filtering: Not "impossible". It is not offered in-game, or enabled as floors are very blurry in 3D parts. However, it can be forced via your video card (worked for me, at least). Note that while this is mostly a 2D platformer, the graphics are 3D polygonal and there are a few fully 3D sections so far.

  24. I'm a little behind on knowing how to add wiki info, but I'll share this here since it might at least give someone else a start. Steam Store Page So far it's looking pretty crap. 31fps framerate cap (some people are reporting other odd framerates, such as a 24fps cap when using hdmi to their television) (possible fixes to get sub-30 fps to 30 here and here) 720p rendering, even when you set it to 1080p in options (it just upscales; my screenshots are 1280x720) (possible resolution to this via a registry hack; see Update 1 at bottom of post) (running windowed works properly, see Update 2 at bottom of post) No anisotropic filtering. (at least it doesn't look like it in the 3D areas) In-game anti-aliasing is poor. (might just be the low resolution, though) (Anisotropic Filtering and FXAA can be forced via RadeonPro (HD6870) and thus likely via other video card control panels.) Input Lag Issues. (game seems to have lag and microstuttering issues- similar to FEZ before there was a 60fps hack for that game) (running windowed seems to fix the lag for most people, despite the framerate staying the same) Saved Game Location. Games appear to be stored in an oddball location: C:\Steam\userdata\______\227600\remote\metagame.dat (not an issue, just an fyi) (source) No icon in Steam in either Detail or List mode. I am trying to find a way to fix the framerate at least, but no luck so far. I don't see any config or save files in either the game install directory or My Documents areas. However, there is a file here in its userdata folder that might be of use (227600 is its Steam number, you'll see it in the store page's URL): C:\Steam\userdata\______\227600 and the file is remotecache.vdf Inside it (opened using Notepad++): "227600" { "metagame.dat" { "root" "0" "size" "1752" "localtime" "1378339897" "time" "1378339896" "remotetime" "0" "sha" "d39b08559673daee6f668821972119ab080d4aed" "syncstate" "3" "persiststate" "0" "platformstosync2" "-1" } } I tried modifying syncstate to 0 and 1 so far, with no effect. Also, it seems to reset this file if you don't set it to read-only. So this file might be a dead end, I dunno. Also possible there is another config file hidden in some oddball place. Or we could just be screwed... Anyway, that's what I've got so far, hope it's useful to someone. Otherwise the game is lovely, but the framerate especially is really bothering me. Not playing it until this crap is fixed. *UPDATE 1* *Confirmed that AF/FXAA can be forced (see edited entry above) *Someone found some registry settings that appear to control resolution and some other settings. [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\SSA\COI] "Subtitles"=dword:00000000 "AntiAliased"=dword:00000001 "FullScreen"=dword:00000001 "ScreenResIndex"=dword:0000000c "Quality"=dword:00000000 "PostProcess"=dword:00000001 I'm guessing some other number should get us 1920x1080 etc. but I'm too burnt out to figure it out tonight :) *UPDATE 2: Strangly, the game runs properly at the selected resolution in windowed mode. So if you want native 1080p, that's one way around it. I have confirmed that this works; I'd also note that the game "felt" better at 1080p for some reason, despite fraps still showing a framerate of 31. Less lag or microstutter maybe? I took a screenshot of the game at 1080p w/ AFx16 and FXAA forced via RadeonPro, it looks gorgeous with these proper settings. If you want borderless windowed, you can reportedly use this tool with the game, effectly giving you a proper fullscreen native 1080p experience. Added Input Lag to issues above, with one solution to it (run windowed). *UPDATE 3: Added links to possible solutions for people stuck at sub-30 framerates above. Added savegame location. *UPDATE 4: Added lack of icons in Steam to problems.
