Have you tried deleting your cookie for pcgamingwiki.com and trying again?

I'll be putting some work into the layout, administration and templates for this site very soon.
-
I set
$wgEmailConfirmToEdit = false;
Which should stop the errors with having to confirm an email address if you are anonymous.
Did this break the CAPTCHA for anonymous editing?
-
I have an implementation of this here: http://pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Home/Steam
But I may wait for a Home page redesign (again!) before putting it in.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Future_Cop:_LAPD
Guide for starting this game from 1998, would be greatly appreciated.
I only managed to get black screen while game and sound are working in background.
Other forums didn't help.
Where is it available?
http://www.gog.com/forum/general/future_cop_lapd - it's on the GOG wishlist.
I might have to 'acquire' a copy for testing.
A german forum thread detailing how it works:

Here is the stub for a PCGW article:

For everyone's information, I've added the BBcode for Youtube videos so you can add them in like so:

Thanks for the feedback. hungry_eyes is doing some general concept work for the home page - the main barrier to implementing this is having a good css person to help with coding it. I'd also love to find ways to add new features, such as Top 10 Steam games.
The 'social' and 'did you know' sections are both kind of filler and repetitions of other areas, and I would go one step further and say they can be removed in the next redesign.
The Kickstarter I am quite proud of. I'd like to keep it on as a badge of honour like they do on FTL's website: http://www.ftlgame.com/
The 'recent changes' box - this has been on the front page since the beginning pretty much, and it would be a bit weird to see it go. But I'm happy to open it up to opinions from other people. Maybe we can open it up to a poll in the future.

I have an enormous backlog (I haven't even finished New Vegas or Mass Effect 3 yet), but I'm looking forward to:
Zeno Clash II
Loved the art style and world of the first game, even though the gameplay was difficult and the controls weren't great.
South Park - The Stick of Truth
Obsidian game. Trailer looks awesome. I hope it stays on track for early this year (dependent on THQ's financial status)
Bioshock Infinite
Obviously :).

Quote from hungry_eyes:
Hey, don't know how realistic this is - just posting it here for posterity.Basically, my idea is that at some point we introduce a box on the homepage that automatically grabs the Top 5 "Top Sellers" on Steam and links to their articles on PCGW. Obviously it would automatically update with Steam. I guess it just depends on what the Steam API is like?
This is a very interesting idea - would absolutely love to have this functionality on our site. Steam has an official feed which only contains the top weekly sellers: http://store.steampowered.com/feeds/wee ... ellers.xml
Options:
1) We'd need a way of parsing this feed and redirecting it to our pages. However, it's beyond my technical expertise.
2) Get someone to customise a crawler for us to scrape Steam's homepage and produce a top 10 list which links to our articles
3) Do it by hand on a set period, e.g. once a week.

Hey guys,My Brother-in-Law and sister love playing Wii games together. Generally, she'll sit there and play, while he'll watch - he lost his right arm in an accident about 10 years ago and can't play (most) games. I got them a copy of Donkey Kong Country for Christmas this year, expecting that, as usual, she'd play. Little did I know that apparently my brother-in-law is a HUGE DKC fan. He spent probably an hour fiddling with the game in an attempt to play, but no dice :(
I felt pretty bad :( I looked around on the internet for awhile to see if I could find a one-handed adapters - those that were created seem to have been most popular a few years ago, and are now lost to the sands of time. I'm now wondering if I can make one myself. I vaguely remember having soldered something at some point in my life :P
Anyhow, and leads or advice anyone could provide would be amazing. Hate to see a brother locked out of his fav game like that.
Merry Christmas, Reddit Games!
TLDR; Brother-IL wants to play DKC Wii, can't because only one arm. Any advice?
EDIT: Said 20 years ago, meant 10 :P
EDIT2: Have contacted a hardware modder. We'll see what happens when I hear back from him.
EDIT 3: in response to everyone suggesting PC games (LOL, TFT, etc)... Thank you so much, but he's not into that stuff. Imagine him as your girlfriend who LOVES Angry Birds...but only Angry Birds. Except for him, it's DKC. DKC is his thing, and I intend to make it happen. Hopefully with a minimum of pomp and circumstance st the he feels his handicapped as little as possible ;)
EDIT 4: OK impressed and thrilled at the responses so far, thanks r/games. I'm pursuing a couple of leads, but nothing solid thus far. I'll keep you guys updated!
Anyone had any experience with one-handed gaming, or disabled gaming?

I've trialled the logged in/out states for ads for a few days. What I've found is that the change in revenue has not been enough for us to warrant the change. Therefore, logged in will now disable ads. Enjoy!

I will probably revert a bunch of the sidebar changes later today - the large sidebar is annoying me :D.

Could you please define "stutter"? Upload Fraps recording to youtube if you can.
Is it jerky movement? Sticking on one place and then suddenly jumps away? Massive delay between physical mouse movement and movement on the screen?
Some general fixes:
- disable V-sync - causing input lag and should be always disable
- limit USB pooling rate within your mouse software
- connect your mouse to PS/2
- experiment with frame limiter - some games runs badly with capped FPS, some needs to be capped
These are excellent fixes - we should make a stutter article which includes these and also address microstutter in dual-sli rigs.
-
I adjusted the logo size to accommodate a 160x600 banner on the left. I'll be making some more spacing adjustments with the sidebar to make it more compact.
I've fixed the white spacing as well I think.

Thanks so much for this, I am stupid and missed this in the PHPBB documentation I was looking at.
Edit: feed is updated now to show most recently updated threads.

This is very cool: http://pcgamingwiki.com/images/4/4f/TestTwitterfeed.png as is this http://pcgamingwiki.com/images/6/63/Tes ... topics.png
However we have a problem in that the format of what we get is hugely dependent on the way RSS feeds are parsed on MediaWiki. For example on the PHPBB feed - the current implementation is very basic - we use a third party RSS embedding tool to parse the feed and insert it into MediaWiki - there's no way to seperate the title/forum name/author out of the feed unless we build our own RSS feed parser which is beyond my ability.
For example the feed for PHPBB is here: feed.php?mode=topics - it doesn't even update or push up when there is a reply unfortunately.
I have a feeling that we will need to look at the tech and programming side before we can make this homepage look better.

I am happy to expand all of our categories tom include DOS and other operating systems as necessary.
I was hoping to get a more holistic approach to getting all new categories put in, and to have these built into our templates.
For example, having 'Steam' in our availability table could also include the Steam category. We could include all stores and unlocks like GamersGate, Greenmangaming, Amazon.com, etc. I'm not exactly sure where to draw the line.
There's also the suggestion to include issues unresolved as a category as well (built into a new Fixbox template).
Interested in hearing what you guys think about how many categories we should have.

We are currently experiencing some problems, please bear with us whilst we try to fix them. Affected sites include PCGamingWiki.com and FTLWiki.com.

I've added note yesterday. However Krvavi Abadas did not noticed and added his note as well
Thanks for updating the page both of you.
I may make it a rule on this forum to add the fix to the relevant PCGW page. :P

Just wanted to announce that I will be working on this in the coming week or so. One intention is to move it out of OS headers and make a general header. This is so that you can easily refer to it to know exactly where a game unlocks, including which OS's as well.
I'll be including new account unlocks such as Ubuntu Software Centre, and also a method for adding accounts and stores more easily.
