  1. Digital arrows to the face? Interesting career move... :)

You hosting a public or private one?

Currently it's on mc.pcgamingwiki.com - I hope to publicise it once we're sure everything's working.

I have never really played Minecraft before and I have no idea what I'm doing with it..

  2. We might be able to add a DRM category to the Availability Table icons. This would make categorisation automatic whenever you used the DRM-free icon.

I am looking into overhauling the entire Availability Table first though - to also include OS categories at some point. This is a long-term project which will be looked at over on this thread: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=47

Any help or input on this is apprecaited.

  3. Note: officially this campaign will be launching very soon, keep your eyes and ears open.

We are hosting a campaign with Humble Indie opinionator Cheese to complete listings for every single Humble Indie Bundle game that has been released. The full campaign information is listed on Cheese's website. Here's how to help:

    1) Check Humble Indie Bundle for missing (red) pages, incomplete articles, and general improvement.

    2) Refer to the Sample Article (PCGamingWiki:Sample_Article) for tips on how to layout the pages.

    3) For questions, clarifications, progress reports, please reply here.

    4) Check out Soeb's project progress indicator.

  4. That's not an issue with your 'installation' of phpBB, but your configuration of 'php.ini' (the 'settings' for the PHP service for the website).

Edit the 'upload_max_filesize' value to 1024 MB for 1 GB; you'll likely have to do this via SSH access.

Turns out that it was something to do with nginx we are running. File hosting works now, but we need to figure out some policies.

For now the limits are 1gb for moderators, 100mb for registered users.

If a file extension is not supported, email me and I'll add it in.

  5. Teleglitch recently scored 9/10 on Eurogamer: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2013- ... tch-review

    Destructoid 8.0: http://www.destructoid.com/review-teleg ... 9995.phtml

I think Destructoid described it the best:

Elevator pitch time! Teleglitch is the combat of Hotline Miami and Alien Breed meets the aesthetics of Quake meets the story of System Shock meets an RPG roguelike where you explore randomly generated dungeons, collect items, and craft new gear. Believe it or not, this is selling it short.

Presentation is low-fi and frankly awful. But gameplay is visceral and addictive.

  6. Just quick fix: I've deleted black background and cleaned edges of the PC case. However I have not touched lighter lines inside the case. Will that be enough?

I would suggest to trace everything and convert to vectors. I could do that when my schedule clears little bit (which should be at the end of next week).

Huge thanks for this LDK - this should be enough for us to get the print done on the t-shirts thank you :).

  7. hungry_eyes did some fantastic work creating the new logo for our site. However in an accident, the original PSD with multiple layers and transparent background was lost and we are left with only the large PNG of the new logo.

I wanted to integrate the new logo into the new t-shirt design, so I copy and pasted the new logo into the design. However because the graphic was not transparent, it seems to have left slight white jagglies. I would like to print some t-shirts in a light-grey (as well as in white), so I'm worried about how this might look when printed. Could anyone take a look at it please?

  8. 1) I'm trying to upload a 60mb file. It's giving me the error:

The attachment’s file size is too large, the maximum upload size is 2 MB.

Please note this is set in php.ini and cannot be overridden.

I believe that administrators and moderators can upload past the attachment limit?

    2) I'd like set permissions on upload limits like this:

    Administrator/moderator: 1gb

    Normal user: 50mb

  9. ..and i really wish that this project will take off. I know how big an undertaking this is, and i hope it will foster a quality self-agregating community that will be able to carry it. I'll be sticking around anyway.

Now, i actually have an question.. is the content going to be based on initial releases of games with patch-fixes mentioned in the articles, or should we just assume the latest patch is applied and actually delete content that relates to a fixed issue as patches come out?

Didn't notice anything relating to this.

If an issue is fixed by an official patch that works, then I think it's safe to say that it 'overwrites' any other hacks or fixes for those issues. We can take out issues fixed by patches basically.

It might be worth mentioning infamous issues in 'Key points' that have been fixed so people are aware. For example, Far Cry 3 was unplayable for many people, but this has been fixed by subsequent patches so we should remove those issues.

  10. Is it possible to send messages through Steam easily?

You can add to rules, that contestants have to enter official PCGW Steam Group. That way you could send messages directly via member list.

I'm not sure how else to guarantee that a person doesn't come and spam the site with new PCGW accounts to enter themselves multiple times.

What about disqualify contestants with empty Steam accounts? Contestants have to set their Steam account to public on 11th February so you can verify that this is legit person.

Thanks this is exactly the kind of feedback I needed :).

I'll require people to join our Steam group.

People can verify their account is older than 11th February by either making their account public or friending me on Steam so I can see their profile.

  11. I'd suggest replacing the unlock column with a DRM column. This would convey the same information while also highlighting unexpected situations, e.g. games that have SecuROM on the Steam version.

This would mean the currently uninformative "retail" unlock type would be replaced by the specific DRM used on the disc, and it would also eliminate some of the redundant combinations of the current system (e.g. specifying a GOG.com unlock type when GOG.com games are never sold elsewhere anyway).

EDIT: example of DRM instead of unlock, to clarify what I'm describing. :)

I understand the argument for 'DRM column' but I think DRM is better left in the notes section, and keeping the account unlock column.

The Availability table is really for glancing and helping to guide a purchasing decision, and seeing if a game is available on your preferred 'account' or client. People don't like opening new accounts or using new clients - the first question most people ask is: does it unlock on Steam? Can I get a DRM-free exe to download?

DRM belongs in the notes because each DRM is almost always implemented differently - SecuROM has different activation limits, GFWL has different types of activation requirements, etc.

It would also mean not having to make individual DRM icons which are not informative (SecuROM icon doesn't really tell you anything unless you know which kind it is).

It also gets us out of argument of whether Steam is or isn't DRM. Obviously it is DRM, but to list it in this quick-glance type table would be meaningless - most people are interested in what third party DRM is being implemented and how obstructive it is.

GOG do actually get sold elsewhere, for example you can redeem your Steam version of Witcher and Witcher 2 on GOG. Future CD Projekt games will probably redeem on GOG as well.
