What is your screen resolution/aspect ratio? Have you got a screenshot.
-
Doesn't look too bad on my ultrawidescreen! Interesting that they blur the edges of the main screenshot to make it fit the aspect ratio. I wonder how they are going to look on triple display (not that anything would look at that width!) A lot of the 'posts' don't have screenshots featured correctly - probably will be Also the 'Recent News' RSS feeds are all gone now - probably a good thing as it was 3rd party blog spam, only ever tangentially related to the actual game. The decision to make every game in this 'cover' mode into portrait box art size is probably a huge mistake as it looks really ugly. Also almost every Steam game by default shows a landscape cover, so I don't know why they'd offer this as an option. Perhaps when publishers are ready they'll upload proper portrait cover art too.

Clear instruction on how to enable the leaked Steam UI today: 1. Go to Steam > Settings > Account > Beta participation - set this to Steam Beta Update 2. Restart and then close Steam 3. Download the file csgo_steamui_websrc_all.zip.8af5e297faf24667a734d24612abc35f7f54576c from here 4. Rename the file to csgo_steamui_websrc_all.zip 5. Unzip the zip into the Steam folder 6. Right click on Steam shortcut, Right click Steam Client Bootstrapper and click Properties 7. Add the code -newlib at the end of the Target box 8. Open Steam

According to SteamDB, the new Steam UI interface has "leaked through an update to the Chinese CS:GO launcher”. What do you think of the changes? I for one will be glad as it looks like they are making much better use of the horizontal space, which my 3440x1440 monitor will appreciate!

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order Official Gameplay Demo
Andytizer replied to Andytizer's topic in News and general PC gaming
Some games I enjoy and treat them like blockbuster action movies - something satisfying about watching millions of dollars unfurl in front of you. It's still looks enjoyable or should I say, consumable. But it's a disappointment given the budget and the potential from the studio. It really looks like it's been sanded down and then mushed together with vaseline, like it's been polished too much. -
Metro: Exodus is now available on Microsoft Store - a surprise given all the hoo-ha about Epic Games Store vs Steam exclusivity.

If the gg.deals list is accurate then it's 99 games vs our previous count of PC games on Xbox Game Pass which was 21 23 - that's a lot of new PC games added. What is really surprising is that they aren't including Halo: Master Chief Collection - I would've thought this would have been a good strategy to encourage PC/Steam users onto the subscription package. It's hard to predict exactly what Microsoft's new gameplan is. Microsoft's history of Games for Windows Live and Microsoft Store haven't exactly filled PC gamers with confidence, but this new strategy seems promising.

I just watched this properly and I think it is impressive how well Repawn has graphically presented the Star Wars look and feel. However the overall gameplay looks incredibly generic and boring, especially when we know what a studio like Respawn is capable of. The enemy AI for the Stormtroopers looks braindead and the fights look boring. And there’s too much platforming/traversing in this demo that isn’t interesting. One of the first proper PC games I played online was Dark Forces II: Jedi Knight, and I’m not sure if it’s the nostalgia but it feels like later games on that series had more interesting lightsaber action and fighting and certainly this game looks dull in comparison.

Looks like this has leaked ahead of Microsoft's announcement - link is here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/p/xbox-beta/9mv0b5hzvk9z Interesting to see how this affect's Microsoft's current PC offerings and the Game Pass: https://pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/List_of_Xbox_Play_Anywhere_games https://pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/List_of_PC_games_on_Xbox_Game_Pass Screenshots:

Thanks I've added this to the opening post.

There are more specific date possibilities too - e.g. Chaosbane which was available 4 days earlier as a pre-order bonus. I'd arguably say that the 31st May 2019 was the true release date (even reflects this on Steam) even though the 'official' date was 4 days later. Perhaps this could be 'Date first available' @Rose I'd say 'Date first available' means the 1st day you could pay money for the 'full' game.
-
I'd like to know when a game is 'cancelled' as well. So the proposal would be for 2 new properties: Date entered early access Date cancelled What do people think? We could even produce some interesting parameters - E.g. we could track longest games in early access

Proposal: Remove wikis from General information
Andytizer replied to Andytizer's topic in Development
The thing about GOG and Steam 'Community' is that it is the name of the page, we just link them with that name because it's what their titles are and it so happens that these titles are descriptive. However they are essentially forums with threads and replies. I am open to the ideas of discussing Community vs Unofficial but this should be a separate thread with a proposed outcome. -
Proposal to remove wikis from General information and the Editing guide. Wikis were included because generally speaking there was 'the one' wiki everyone used. However with the advent of massive wikifarms, a single game could have several wikis associated with it. Problems: Inconsistencies with 'community wiki' / 'official wiki' terminology - meaningless as all wikis are community wikis Wikis don't offer technical information If a wiki contains a good technical page, this could be linked to separately Proposed solution: Remove any game wikis from General information Time limit: 7 days (14th June 2019)

Yes this looks good - shall we add it to Snuxoll's list of stuff to install.. I think it's low priority at the moment but will ask him to do post-planned migration in June/July.

I think this Tickross change is a very a tidy solution for the 'Always On' issue. Garrett's colour is appropriately 'meh' as it's great if AA is on but we should be able to turn it off or change the AA type/quality etc. I would approve of this change @Garrett. @Aemony I agree with your points - multimonitor is more like a 'ultra-widescreen+' setting. But the term multimonitor is so ingrained as meaning Eyefinity/Surround especially in communities like WSGF, it'll be an uphill struggle to repurpose. In terms of a new name for a 'distinct' multimonitor support, how about... 'Second screen functionality'? This would include games like SupCom, World in Conflict, etc where minimap is used on 2nd screen. But it also opens up other types of 'outside the PC' functionality e.g. Fallout 4 Pip boy app. It could even include this guy's weird BF4 setup where he launches the game's minimap in the browser on a 2nd screen whilst gaming on the primary screen.

I've gotten in touch with Simon Carless of MobyGames and will see how it goes.
