The latest Steam update has enabled 'Steam Remote Play' which is the new name for 'In-Home Streaming' which now works outside the home. Here are the details: Streaming games from your PC to outside the home was always possible using aplications like Moonlight or even setting up a VPN with Steam's In-Home Streaming. However this new update makes everything work natively with remote devices including Steam installed on PCs or Steam Link mobile app for iOS and Android.

Metro Exodus, the UWP variant.

@Aemony Still can't install the game yet! What's the source for this patch information, any patch notes? -
Remove Square Enix DRM from FFVII?
Andytizer replied to Motka's topic in Articles and troubleshooting
I'm afraid I don't think there's a way to remove it. The install limit was lifted. See: https://pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Final_Fantasy_VII_(2012) It's one of those cases where it might be better to have the original release or emulate the PS1 version. Alternatively, the remake is bound to come to PC eventually! -
Metro Exodus, the UWP variant.

I have been trying from the beginning and I have yet to be able to install Metro Exodus from the Microsoft Store at all - I keep receiving the error code 0x80070005. I have tried updating Windows, Xbox app, running in admin mode etc, but can't get it to install at all. Other games like Gears of War 4 install just fine. Still very frustrating, as I bought Xbox Game Pass PC Games specifically to test Metro Exodus out. -
Who knew that a shared love of bees, honey and mead could settle combative lawsuits between game companies? That's exactly what happened between Stardock CEO Brad Wardell and original Star Control creators Fred Ford and Paul Reiche III. It's all explained in this blog post from Fred and Paul. Here are some choice quotes from the announcement: Such a wholesome story. To see a detailed history of their grievances and how they came to a settlement, it's all laid out in this excellent Ars Technica post.

MobyGames have declined my proposal of mutual linking - not citing any reasons. I don't really see much value in linking to them, they don't really provide any useful information for PC gamers - Wikipedia has much more useful information. I would prefer to dedicate resources to more compatible websites, e.g. I was looking at ProtonDB.

With the announcement of Metro Exodus on Microsoft Store excited you, then it might be because Metro has been broken free from its exclusivity from the Epic Games Store. It also helps that it's available for the princely sum of $1, contained within a 1 month trial in the newly branded Xbox Game Pass for PC. This is where the good news ends. Even though Metro Exodus was released 4 entire months ago, its new release on the Microsoft Store reminds us more of rushed console port than a smooth launch you'd be expecting. It's a harsh reminder of the problems gamers faced with Games For Windows Live back in 2007. More painful is the realisation that many problems are probably the result of the restrictive Universal Windows Platform (UWP) that Microsoft Store applications must be contained within. Firstly - not being able to install the damn thing - threads mention many people cannot install the game, giving error message 0x80070005 even with the above updates both installed. Make sure to install the latest Xbox beta and make sure to update to Windows version 1903 (the May update), then you'll need to buy the game or subscribe to Xbox Game Pass for PC. Now this does not guarantee it'll work - in fact it hasn't been installable on one of my PCs and the issue still isn't fixed. If you are one of the lucky people who can 'play' the game, you're likely to encounter one or all of the below issues: Game won't save - thread thread thread - even this poor chap losing 3 hours progress Settings won't save (e.g. resolution) - thread Config and save files are very hard to locate and edit - thread Cannot switch to DX11 despite it being a graphics option - thread After first cutscene, can't login to Xbox Live - thread thread (real GFWL flashbacks here) My current working theory is that porting Metro Exodus to UWP has caused all sorts of issues with permissions, where normally the user files of the game are easily accessible, e.g. %AppData%\Saved Games\metro exodus\<user-id>\user.cfg but are now contained within the locked down UWP format which is unwritable for whatever reason: %AppData%\Local\Packages\DeepSilver.ProjectWindfall_hmv7qcest37me\SystemAppData\wgs\....someuniqueusernumber\ Another issue UWP may be causing is the 'blurry screen' as if the game is being rendered under a much lower resolution. This may be due to the fact that UWP forces borderless fullscreen windowed mode stretching the default 720p image. This combined with the fact that resolution changes aren't saving correctly are causing a lot of confusion. Apparently alt+tabbing will solve the issue but it's not a great first impression. It's just conjecture at this point but it's a bad sign for future 3rd party AAA UWP games that are bound to come in droves to sign up for the Xbox Game Pass money pot. For more up to date issues, the Metro Exodus wiki page will contain more up to date fixes. Many thanks to contributor Anthraksi for bringing the issue to our attention.

Another confirmation of save game and setting save issues: -
Did you make sure to set the Steam Beta update? And when you copied the contents of the zip, it copied the \steamui\ folder, overwriting the original one in Steam? Otherwise it is in beta, issues are to be expected I'm afraid.

This looks like a common issue, check this reviewer who can't get 4K working correctly: Also another user is reporting crashing. -

Metro Exodus, the UWP variant.
Andytizer replied to Anthraksi's topic in Articles and troubleshooting
That's shocking! So if I am correct it summarising: Metro Exodus UWP (Microsoft Store) keeps defaulting to 1280x720 even if you have a larger screen - resolution can temporarily fixed it by alt-tabbing in and out No other graphics settings can be changed, they revert back The .ini files in AppData\Local\Packages\DeepSilver.ProjectWindfall\ are locked Even if you take ownership the ini files are encrypted I'm trying to install the game but it's giving me an error message: Looks like other people may be experiencing the issue as well. However I've checked that I'm using version 1903 of WIndows, and I've installed the new Xbox app and subscribed to Xbox Game Pass for PC Games. -
Doom Remake 4 was one of many fan attempts to bring Doom into the modern age. However, the law is the law, and Zenimax has threatened the creator with this scary-looking legal letter: Creator vasyan777 response was to wipe the ModDB page, saying this: "I announce our shutdown of the Doom Remake 4 page. It's with a great sadness that I'm posting today; I recently received a letter from ZeniMax Media Inc to end production on Doom Remake 4. After a few days, I've exhausted my options to keep it afloat; we knew this day was a possibility. I've talked to legal console, and they stated that there would be a high chance of us winning the argument, since this is a mod, but the legal fight would take most likely a year(s) and cost around 100k. The page has been already wiped" It's a sad day to see fan projects get wiped out by bigger fish. However it was alwas on the cards - we've always seen corporations defend their interests against any unauthorised use of their copyrighted and trademarked materials. What was Doom Remake 4? Description from the ModDB page: "Have you ever dreamed about seeing DOOM in HD or with modern feel? Well today you are lucky, Doom Remake 4 is basically a compilation of mods that make it look more polished and aesthetic. It brings you: High Resolution Textures with PBR materials, 3D models of every object and enemy, New HUD (modified DoomVisor), Brutal mods with plenty of blood and gibs." Screenshots don't do it justice but videos like these show how visceral Doom can feel with modern graphics: Whilst the mod pages have been totally wiped, you can still see some of the information online in Google's cache, including the original description: Sad to see a great looking mod go down. Had ZeniMax not intervened, vasyan777 had every intention of adding more to the game:

Microsoft's E3 was excellent - especially as they had so many changes to the PC gaming landscape. Bethesda - I have only watched clips but it seemed to be showing very mediocre stuff.

At PCGamingWiki we aim to be an active gaming community focused on new developments in PC gaming. I'd like to encourage anyone here to make posts and discuss the latest PC gaming news. Featured content (small green star icon) will appear on the Home (wiki) and Forum (sidebar). Any post in this forum can be 'Featured' by a Moderator or Editor, as long as they fit some critera: Titles Descriptive and not coy ('you won't believe..' clickbait). Legible and grammatically accurate. Not too long (no more than 24 words). Anything noteworthy related to PC games or PC gaming hardware. Image Attach an image as an attachment and have this inserted at the top of the post. The 1st image showing will automatically be used in the thumbnail on the main forum view, and on Facebook/Twitter. Moderators and Editors can manually change the thumbnail by clicking on it when in the main forum view. Try to make this a 3:2 (width:height) ratio as this crops the best. Content Content should be newsworthy - ideally within a few days of it becoming 'news'. Should be relevant and important to PC gamers. Please feel free to express opinions and make recommendations, but be warned that other users may disagree with you in the comments. No overtly political threads. Threads don't need to be grouped - e.g. if Cyberpunk 2077 announcement is mentioned in E3 megathread, it's okay to create a new Cyberpunk 2077 thread for a store announcement (as this is a separate topic). Threads that are too similar will be merged. No self-promotion or spam. Please be civil, our Code of conduct applies here too. Moderation This is a new area of the site so @Andytizer will be the main point of contact. The best way to get in touch is to PM via community site or on Discord. If you think a post is worth Featuring, tell @Andytizer or a moderator either via PM or via Discord.

How is a game being released April 16, 2020 - more than 10 months away, now the top of Steam and GOG bestselling charts? Definitely a lot of hype caused by a great development studio, fantastic trailer and maybe Keanu Reeves had something to do with it. The best way to support the developers CD Projekt Red is to buy it from GOG.com - the digital storefront they own. They even go on to say this right on the GOG store page - "100% OF YOUR MONEY GOES TO THE CD PROJEKT GROUP" - can't get clearer than that!

Yes having portrait images seems silly given that Steam has been pushing for landscape game covers since the beginning. Every single game will need to be updated which will never happen. Shame about the images you've created - hopefully this isn't the only way we'll be able to view the game library - I wonder how Big Picture will be affected too.

Hi @Effcol this is actually something we are going to implement and was recently discussed in Discord. You are free to join us in #articles channel - @SirYodaJedi @Rose @BaronSmoki @Garrett and others were discussing it. We may create a new discussion area in Development forum or we may create some more detailed policies. You don't happen to know any gamers that are colourblind we coudl consult?
