    Unpack the archive with software like 7zip, then patch the main game exe with the tool. This will remove the letterboxing (black bars) from the game, resulting in more vertical FOV than ever before. There will be some vertical stretching of the menu and subtitles. Support with a donation.

    Special K and PCGamingWiki linking

    Many thanks to @Aemony and Kaldaien for organising linking back from the Special K mod to PCGamingWiki, you can see this in action in Octopath Traveler version of the mod. I like to think PCGamingWiki is more in the 'Computer' section of the bookshop rather than 'Self-Help' section :D.

    It doesn't make a lot of sense to me to see a game with subtitles set to n/a for when all of the dialogue is text-based. Say I'm hearing impaired or I want to play a game at work but remain aware of the real world around me, or have any other reason to not want to hear any dialogue - I may use the wiki to look for games that have subtitles. If we had a list for such games, I would naturally sort to highlight the ones set to true, not something as obscure as n/a. You may convince me otherwise, but the real question is whether it would be as apparent to a newcomer. Besides, by dictionary definition subtitles do not have to accompany any voiced dialogue.     This is a great idea. Notes about VirtualStore redirection are now displayed for Windows paths pointing to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, %WINDIR%, and <path-to-game>. Feel free to suggest any improvements to the wording or other path types that need notes.

This includes options to scale player and enemy damage, adjusting the amount of head bobbing, disabling various HUD elements and more. Start the YoungbloodTweakerGUI.exe set the bindings and other settings as desired Start the game like you would normally, for example directly through Steam Features The Youngblood Tweaker (YBT) is a small mod that offers additional options for Wolfenstein: Youngblood. The goal is to fix issues that prevent people from enjoying the game, as well as to provide quality of life improvements. The mod is still in its infancy with very limited functionality. Start the YoungbloodTweakerGUI.exe set the bindings and other settings as desired Start the game like you would normally, for example directly through Steam Note that even though the GUI is for configuration only and does not have to be running for the mod to work, it can be used together with the 'Reload Config' binding to adjust options of the fly. Update Perform a regular installation and just overwrite any existing files Note that an update retains all configured options unless they have actually been changed or removed in the new version. Uninstall Remove or rename the dinput8.dll from the folder of the game. Known Issues There are currently no known issues. Additional Information Antivirus Software Since this mod consists of an executable DLL file that uses "hacking techniques" such as injection and hooking, it could be classified as malicious by antivirus software. In that case, it might be necessary to add an exception rule to the scanner. If you lack the trust in random people on the internet -- and I would not blame you -- feel free to use a meta online virus scanner like VirusTotal to verify the file. GUI Requirements The GUI requires the Microsoft .NET Framework 4.7.1 to work; which should already be installed on most systems. If you are having problems starting the program, you can download the required version either through a recommended Windows update (Windows 7 and later) or at Microsoft here. Loading Other Fixes/Mods/Injectors To increase the compatibility with other mods or injectors that are using a wrapper DLL, this fix offers two methods for remote loading of additional files. Note that there might still be compatibility issues between the different fixes, mods or injectors that have nothing to do with the loading process. File method: The mod will load another dinput8.dll automatically if it has the name dinput8_Remote.dll. Just rename the DLL you want to load accordingly. Using this method will lead to an error if the renamed DLL is not itself a dinput8.dll. Folder method: The mod will also automatically load all DLLs regardless of their names in a dinput8_Remote sub-directory. Just create a corresponding folder in the install directory of the mod. This is the only way to load multiple (conflicting) files. Input Bindings The GUI allows the binding of an action to an arbitrary combination of keys and buttons on the keyboard, the mouse or an XInput compatible controller. The system purposefully does not restrict conflicts, so multiple actions can be bound to the same key. Key Names: In case of the keyboard there might be a discrepancy between the key that was pressed and the one that is displayed. This is because the names are automatically translated based on the keyboard layout by using a Windows function. However, the mod always uses the physical keys as they were used during the creation of the binding, independent of the name that is displayed. Modifiers: Modifier bindings can be created by just using the corresponding key combinations. If you bind one action to Space and another another to LCTRL + Space and a third one to LALT + LCTRL + Space, only one of them will be triggered when Space is down, depending on the state of LCTRL and LALT. The system is not restricted to the usual modifier keys ALT, CTRL or SHIFT. Any key or button pressed before another acts as a modifier for the next one. Note that the order of the keys or buttons is only relevant during the binding process to distinguish bindings with the same modifiers. In the above example, Space could be held down and the other actions triggered by pressing LCTRL or LALT afterwards.     In the area under the game cover art there are links to Wikipedia, SteamDB, Wine... and other stuff. I recommend to add MobyGames there too, since Wikipedia is a general online encyclopedia and MobyGame is basically an online encyclopedia for video games and people often already add the links to it in the general info section. Many old obscure and less known games don't have a Wikipedia page, but I have yet to find an old game without a MobyGames page.

    Tim Sweeney, founder of the mega-popular studio Epic Games, took to Twitter in a dialogue regarding the recent Shenmue III fiasco. For those unaware, Shenmue III is a crowdfunded game produced by Ys Net. At E3 2019’s PC Gaming Show, Ys Net announced that Shenmue III would be launching on the Epic Games Store, instead of the previously announced Steam platform. Many backers were aggravated at the bait-and-switch, with no option to receive a Steam key, nor a refund. Sweeney revealed an alleged Steam policy discovered through partner discussions, “Valve policy prohibits providing Steam keys for games that aren’t going to be available at launch on Steam.” Furthermore, Sweeney criticizes the policy, “Steam policy change traps crowdfunded projects into either launching on Steam for 30% or offering backers refunds.” He further clarifies, “By “traps”, I just mean: requires that the game be distributed on Steam, ruling out any funding opportunity associated with exclusivity or preferential terms that might “disadvantage Steam customers”” Finally, when inquired about the fairness behind paying for exclusivity, Sweeney states “Valve has every right to make deals with developers and publishers to secure more exclusives, just as Apple, Microsoft, Sony, Nintendo, and Epic Games do!” What are your thoughts on the matter? If Valve truly has a policy prohibiting keys for non-launch titles, would you agree that Steam is "trapping crowdfunded projects"?

    Welcome to the forums, and yeah, you posted this in the proper channel 🙂 Your proposal is sound, and I don't foresee many hindrances of implementing it. What I am interested in though is how, if you have an initial design, the row itself would be formatted in the VR table, and what parameters you're interested in tracking separately from one another (e.g. modes such as G3D/Z3D etc), if any. I've created an initial draft of the addition to the template here: https://pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/User:Aemony/Sandbox/VorpX When parameters are tracked separately it allows the users or visitors of PCGW to easily create a table of all tracked parameters to make for an easy comparison. For example, each column (except the game name) in the list of local multiplayer games is a separately tracked parameter. However the more these sorts of data are tracked separately, the more complicated the end result can become (see the editing guide for multiplayer table as an example).

    It's not a "love fest" for Valve, it's about the anti-consumer practices of Epic. Also you probably meant "complacent" which couldn't be further from the truth. But you're free to continue being obtuse.

    Epic isn't only paying for exclusivity, they are also taking a smaller share of revenue from game sales. Epic is providing a more lucrative store for developers. If Valve has an issue with this, they can adapt Epic's policies for the Steam store. Valve could pay off developers and publishers to not release games on the Epic Games Store, yet they have chosen not to compete in that regard.

    Proposal: Restructure articles with 'Overview' to replace Key Points, Essential Improvements, General Information Key points was designed to be a way to add statements that would be quantitatively verifiable and individually moderated easily. It occupies the top of the article and is the first thing visitors read when viewing an article - it implies that this is the headline top information. However it currently suffers from an issue where people fill out lines for the sake of having a line, and includes information that is far from ‘key’ eg {{++}} Game uses 7.1 audio. Or to include {{--}} negative points just to 'balance' out the top of the article, where it is not warranted. Secondly I would like to push PCGW to contain more Wikipedia-like information that is qualitative, with a focus on technical and quality of life information. Back in 2012, I was afraid we wouldn’t have the policies and manpower to correctly moderate large blocks of text. However I think we are in a good position to do this now with a healthy active moderation team. This would also vastly improve its 'SEO' quality and push PCGamingWiki articles from average slot of 11th space on Google to possibly the front page. This will attract visitors and editors and make the entire site more useful. Here's a draft General section example (no 2nd level header), that would go at the top of the page: General information - instead of a long rambling list of everything, we move this under the Infobox. Rename to "Support Resources". Remove things like wikis, official websites - this section should be for things like 'authoritative threads', forums, etc. where users can expect to find answers to technical questions about the game.

    This fixes the following issues with Gothic and Gothic II on Windows 8 and later: Window border visible in fullscreen mode Low frame rate in fullscreen mode Extract anywhere and run install.bat to apply these fixes. Any previous versions are automatically replaced if present. This works by applying the following compatibility fixes to Gothic.exe, Gothic2.exe and GothicMod.exe: ForceSimpleWindow (hides window border) DXPrimaryEmulation -DisableMaxWindowedMode (fixes frame rate isssues) This fix does not remove Gothic's default frame rate cap; refer to its page for a separate fix for that issue. This fix will also work with Gothic Multiplayer (other mods that change the executable might not be affected).

    On the flip-side: GOG is facing harsher competition than ever before as a result of Epic’s 88%/12% and Discord’s 90%/10% revenue splits. Steam can wether the storm easily, but can GOG? They already made barely any profit (if I remember it correctly) last year.

    If you don't like it, don't spend the money. The total amount I have spent at the Epic Store: $0. Zip. Zero. Nada. Part of this is because I feel that spending $60 on a game is too much when, in a few months time, the price decreases to a more acceptable point, part of this is because I have too many unplayed games. Steam also launched in September, 2003. There was no such thing as achievements or cloud saving which is taken for granted nowadays. They did, however, have a janky backup utility where you can back up to CDs or DVDs (!!!) which hasn't really been improved for the modern environment where I have a FreeNAS server with 27TB of storage sitting in my closet. Game backups were really important to me when the best I could do in download speeds was 20Mbps, and some of the games are HUGE. Can I easily backup a game using Uplay, Origin, Battle.net, GOG, or Epic? Nope. (Note: I moved to an area that has Gigabit download speeds, so I'm no longer backing up my game downloads). The same complaints I hear about the Epic store is the same complaints I have heard about Origin (EA Games) and UPlay (Ubisoft). In those cases, I suspect that Origin and UPlay were set up partially to appease the big retailers who were hesitant about carrying PC software which sets up a competing storefront, and partially to avoid the Steam tax.

    There are more specific date possibilities too - e.g. Chaosbane which was available 4 days earlier as a pre-order bonus. I'd arguably say that the 31st May 2019 was the true release date (even reflects this on Steam) even though the 'official' date was 4 days later. Perhaps this could be 'Date first available' @Rose I'd say 'Date first available' means the 1st day you could pay money for the 'full' game.

    I'm against adding Metacritic or Opencritic scores because the vast majority of outlets issue the same score for all platforms (prominent when the 100-point scale is used), presumably not comparing the platforms extensively, or not much at all. The PC platform universally has lower amount of scores than the console platforms which have roughly 100 ratings for major releases — the Metacritic average also tends to be lower despite objective technical advantages. More significant issue is that practically every publication listed on Metacritic ignores the technical aspect: 30fps lock, locked resolution, mouse acceleration, key-rebinding, available configuration options (if any), gamepad-friendly HUD, mismatched X and Y sensitivity are so rarely mentioned that I might as well say that they never are. I skimmed through every English review for Alice: Madness Returns (when online, some pages haven't been archived by archive.org) and the game's 30-fps lock was never noted.

    This particular software seems to be picked up by antivirus software for some reason. An alternative 'Borderlands Advance Settings' on this github may be a better alternative, as it has been updated more recently.
