    Unpack the archive with software like 7zip, then patch the main game exe with the tool. This will remove the letterboxing (black bars) from the game, resulting in more vertical FOV than ever before. There will be some vertical stretching of the menu and subtitles. Support with a donation.

    Ubisoft has released their latest fiscal report, covering the 2019-2020 fiscal year. The report revealed that their most profitable platform was PC, making up for 34% of their profit. This was followed by PlayStation 4 at 31%, Xbox One at 18%, mobile games at 7%, and the Nintendo Switch at 5%. Ubisoft attributes this success to the release of the PC-exclusive strategy title Anno 1800, as well as sales on Uplay (including games such as Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege and Assassin’s Creed Odyssey). Seeing this development is monumental considering Ubisoft’s views of the PC platform in the past. In 2012, Yves Guillemot (CEO of Ubisoft) had stated that: This was partially used to excuse their (at the time) less-than-stellar support of the platform, such as Prince of Persia’s “Epilogue” DLC completely skipping the platform. These current numbers have clearly painted a much different picture and shows how important PC gaming is to Ubisoft.

    I disagree that Wikipedia is more useful, since I already wrote in the first post that many games or game developers don't have a Wikipedia article, but Moby Games does. Try finding any information about Brilliant Digital Entertainment and their games like Cyberswine and all you get is what is on Moby Games (probably one of the reason Telltale gets credit for innovation in adventure game genre and online episodic content while BDE did exactly the same things already back in 1997, people completely forgot about BDE). Not only does Moby Games have covers that most people here use when making articles, but they also have system requirements listed which I use when these obscure games don't even have them in readme. In the end it doesn't matter now, since they don't want to cooperate.

    Since inception, one of the most criticized elements of Microsoft’s Universal Windows Platform is the lack of support for file modification. After many years, it seems Microsoft is finally changing their tune. In the current build of Windows 10, Reddit user Pycorax has found a folder with an interesting name in their Program Files directory, titled “Modifiable Windows Apps”. Microsoft’s official webpage provides more information, shedding light on the folder’s purpose. While modding was definitely possible (albeit difficult) on UWP applications, Microsoft finally supporting file modification will alleviate what is perhaps the most controversial issue plaguing the Universal Windows Platform.

    TL;DR The Youngblood Tweaker (YBT) allows additional tweaking of Wolfenstein: Youngblood. This includes options to scale player and enemy damage, adjusting the amount of head bobbing, disabling various HUD elements and more. Quick start guide: Extract the file dinput8.dll to your main game folder. For example: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Wolfenstein Youngblood\". Start the YoungbloodTweakerGUI.exe set the bindings and other settings as desired Start the game like you would normally, for example directly through Steam Features The Youngblood Tweaker (YBT) is a small mod that offers additional options for Wolfenstein: Youngblood. The goal is to fix issues that prevent people from enjoying the game, as well as to provide quality of life improvements. The mod is still in its infancy with very limited functionality. It may be extended and improved based on user feedback in the future. Its features include: Adjusting player and enemy damage Disabling various HUD elements, such as enemy healthbars, objective markers, minimap or the crosshair Adjusting the amount of head bobbing when moving or turning Forcing the FOV outside the range that can be set ingame Disabling rendering of the fog Instructions Supported Versions This mod is designed for the latest, fully patched versions of the game and might not work when used with older or otherwise modified executables. Steam (international version) Steam (international demo version) Install The mod does not make any permanent changes to the game or to Windows and can easily be removed. Extract the file dinput8.dll to your main game folder. For example: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Wolfenstein Youngblood\". Start the YoungbloodTweakerGUI.exe set the bindings and other settings as desired Start the game like you would normally, for example directly through Steam Note that even though the GUI is for configuration only and does not have to be running for the mod to work, it can be used together with the 'Reload Config' binding to adjust options of the fly. Update Perform a regular installation and just overwrite any existing files Note that an update retains all configured options unless they have actually been changed or removed in the new version. Uninstall Remove or rename the dinput8.dll from the folder of the game. Known Issues There are currently no known issues. Additional Information Antivirus Software Since this mod consists of an executable DLL file that uses "hacking techniques" such as injection and hooking, it could be classified as malicious by antivirus software. In that case, it might be necessary to add an exception rule to the scanner. If you lack the trust in random people on the internet -- and I would not blame you -- feel free to use a meta online virus scanner like VirusTotal to verify the file. GUI Requirements The GUI requires the Microsoft .NET Framework 4.7.1 to work; which should already be installed on most systems. If you are having problems starting the program, you can download the required version either through a recommended Windows update (Windows 7 and later) or at Microsoft here. Loading Other Fixes/Mods/Injectors To increase the compatibility with other mods or injectors that are using a wrapper DLL, this fix offers two methods for remote loading of additional files. Note that there might still be compatibility issues between the different fixes, mods or injectors that have nothing to do with the loading process. File method: The mod will load another dinput8.dll automatically if it has the name dinput8_Remote.dll. Just rename the DLL you want to load accordingly. Using this method will lead to an error if the renamed DLL is not itself a dinput8.dll. Folder method: The mod will also automatically load all DLLs regardless of their names in a dinput8_Remote sub-directory. Just create a corresponding folder in the install directory of the mod. This is the only way to load multiple (conflicting) files. Input Bindings The GUI allows the binding of an action to an arbitrary combination of keys and buttons on the keyboard, the mouse or an XInput compatible controller. The system purposefully does not restrict conflicts, so multiple actions can be bound to the same key. Key Names: In case of the keyboard there might be a discrepancy between the key that was pressed and the one that is displayed. This is because the names are automatically translated based on the keyboard layout by using a Windows function. However, the mod always uses the physical keys as they were used during the creation of the binding, independent of the name that is displayed. Modifiers: Modifier bindings can be created by just using the corresponding key combinations. If you bind one action to Space and another another to LCTRL + Space and a third one to LALT + LCTRL + Space, only one of them will be triggered when Space is down, depending on the state of LCTRL and LALT. The system is not restricted to the usual modifier keys ALT, CTRL or SHIFT. Any key or button pressed before another acts as a modifier for the next one. Note that the order of the keys or buttons is only relevant during the binding process to distinguish bindings with the same modifiers. In the above example, Space could be held down and the other actions triggered by pressing LCTRL or LALT afterwards.     Hot take: EGS is a ploy funded by the console manufacturers (at least a certain Japanese one who donated 6 games) in an attempt to kill the PC platform, now that it's at an upswing, and for the first time matching console revenue. What better way to divide the userbase, piss of paying customers to justify piracy, and giving developers second thoughts about PC when they can just make games only for consoles?

    What's newsworthy about this? There are games on Steam built on Unreal Engine, protected by Easy Anti Cheat. There is DualShock support in games released for Windows. Valve were involved in the development of Vive, so it's natural that it relies on their component. Oculus devices do not require SteamVR, and no devices require the Steam client itself.

    Time limit between edits

    I think it might be a good idea to make some kind of time limit for making edits. Just look at this mess here in history: https://pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Area_51_(2005) 9 edits in 7 minutes and it seems nothing was changed in the end. Surprising this was not misused by bots or something. It is annoying to check the changes when people go on a edit spree like this with very short edits. Maybe after the third edit in a short time span to block for 5 minutes, like when login in.

    Click on "X changes" on your watchlist to see a combined diff from all the latest changes made. In this case the user basically didn't use the Preview option properly, and was new to the wiki, and experimented to see what worked until finally giving up. There actually are edit limits configured already, and the time difference between each tiny edit (approx. one minute for each) shows that they most likely hit those as well.

    In the area under the game cover art there are links to Wikipedia, SteamDB, Wine... and other stuff. I recommend to add MobyGames there too, since Wikipedia is a general online encyclopedia and MobyGame is basically an online encyclopedia for video games and people often already add the links to it in the general info section. Many old obscure and less known games don't have a Wikipedia page, but I have yet to find an old game without a MobyGames page.

    In my opinion the news section should be more focused on what this Wiki is like fixing games, compatibility issues and that kind of stuff. For example in the past few weeks new versions of nGlide, dgVoodoo and DosBox has been released, I think stuff like that deserves some attention, since these and other tools are very important for many games and you wont see mainstream media cover this stuff. Another example is Microsoft shutting down their games servers that were used on Windows 7 which is now causing serious issues for W7 users like some random games not starting and rundll.exe stressing their CPU. Here is a discussion about it on GOG.     One of the few positively received features of the Epic Games Store is the offering of free games (in the vein of Origin’s “On The House” feature). It seems the free games are not being bound to a user’s account according to some users. Once a user uninstalls a free game from the Epic Games Store, they have no option to re-install it, leading to users losing access to the game. The latest title impacted by this “practice” is Slime Rancher, which seems to have been removed from a user's account when 'uninstalled'. Tim Sweeney, the CEO of Epic Games, has since responded to the backlash on Twitter, blaming user error: One problem is that it has been difficult to check whether free games were ever redeemed as the Epic Games Store website only ever showed 90 days of purchase history. Tim Sweeney responded: Part of the issue is that when a user claims the 'free' games. Epic Games Store did not send out email notification confirmations. Tim Sweeney has responded: The current free Epic game is Torchlight. Torchlight will be replaced with Limbo on July 18, 2019. Once Torchlight is cycled out, we will be able to confirm whether this was simply an isolated issue.

    In an attempt to minimize the chance of this happening, PCGW now recommends users who create archives containing such files to password-protect the archives using a standardized password. This should prevent browser-based automated filters from triggering on the archives as they will be unable to scan their contents. Post-download it is expected that regular AVs will scan and flag relevant files accordingly during or after the extraction of the archive. As part of this change, a relevant disclaimer about PCGW not guaranteeing the safety of any files hosted on the site have been added below the download button as well, to better reflect the proper community-contributed nature of files hosted here.

    MobyGames have declined my proposal of mutual linking - not citing any reasons. I don't really see much value in linking to them, they don't really provide any useful information for PC gamers - Wikipedia has much more useful information. I would prefer to dedicate resources to more compatible websites, e.g. I was looking at ProtonDB.

    What is this? This fix lets you change the FOV of the singleplayer campaign, including the size of the weapon model. It is simple to install and use and comes with a GUI for easy configuration. Overview Description Despite being a decent PC version, the singleplayer of Modern Warfare Remastered lacks the option to set the FOV. Even though the default FOV is not as horrible as in other Call of Duty games, it still makes the campaign unpleasant or outright unplayable for some people. This fix aims to fix this issue by providing an easy and convenient way to set the FOV for the game. Features Option to set the vertical FOV to almost arbitrary values Option to set the FOV scale of the weapon model Simple to install and use Easy to configure via a GUI and ingame bindings Important: This fix is specifically designed for the singleplayer campaign and will not work with the multiplayer version Instructions Supported Versions Steam Important: This fix relies on the layout of the executable. Although it uses techniques to make it more robust to modifications of the game, it might have to be updated when the game is patched Install The fix does not make any permanent changes to the system, the game or the configuration of the game and can easily be removed (see below). Extract the XInput1_3.dll and the MWRSPFovFixGUI.exe files to the main folder of the game. This sound can be turned off in the config The GUI requires the Microsoft .NET Framework 4.6.1 and the Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 Redistributable package; both of which should already be installed on most systems. If you are having problems starting the program, you can download the required versions here and here Uninstall Remove the XInput1_3.dll from the game's main folder. Configuration To configure the fix you can use the GUI application. Remember that you can hover over almost any option with the mouse to get an explanatory tooltip. There are two FOV settings. The vertical FOV Base and the FOV Weapon Scale factor. The effective FOV is calculated by multiplying these two values. The scaling factor also affects the way the weapon is displayed in addition to the camera. By default the game uses a base FOV of 65.0 and a weapon scaling of 1.0. For a 16:9 27 inch display I am using a FOV Base of 66.0 and a FOV Weapon Scale of 1.15. Note that the settings can also be adjusted while in the game by using the corresponding keybindings. Additional Information What You Should Know Since the fix consists of an executable DLL-File, I could have put any harmful shenanigans in there. You just have to trust me that the file is clean. If you don't -- and why should you -- feel free to use a meta online virus scanner like VirusTotal to verify the file. Be aware however, that because the fix uses "hacking techniques" such as injection and hooking, it could trigger anti-virus software without being harmful.     CD audio tracks

    1) This Wiki lists a lot of technical aspects of games like DRM, graphics and sound API, physics middleware, etc... so listing that the game uses CD audio tracks for music and/or sound effects would make sense. 2) Some older games can have issues playing CD tracks on modern Windows, so you need to use a custom winmm.dll, then rip them to OGG format and then put everything in the game installation folder (some old games are re-realeased like this on digital platforms, for example Extreme G-2). This info would be useful on pages of games with that problem.
