OpenMW, the free open source engine, has announced implemention of the compressed BSA format to support the games Oblivion, Fallout 3, Fallout: New Vegas and Skyrim. The modern BSA files can be loaded, but much work remains and we are still a long way off from being able to play through these games fully. It is incredible that so much progress had been made on this free open source engine and the possibilities are exciting. The engine, which was originally designed to re-implement and extend the 2002 Gamebryo engine for The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, has now been ported to Android, to VR, and it even has a multiplayer fork called TES3MP. The implications of support for modern Gamebryo engine games are very interesting and could eventually see new VR implementations with crossplatform support. Perhaps one day support could extend to Creation Engine games like Fallout 4 and Fallout 76 and have them run on the macOS and Linux operating systems. Until more progress is made on development, you can check out some of the very interesting videos creating by developer cc9cii showing off the new BSA support: Fallout: New Vegas map running in OpenMW Skyrim map running in OpenMW Fallout 3 map running in OpenMW

The simple patcher removes the zoom limitations affecting ultrawide and wider resolutions. Compared to the manual solution, it does not depend on any specific aspect ratio. There is no reliable fix for the windowboxing at the cutscenes yet and I've had better results in the demo. Tested the latest full GOG version at 2560x1080 and 5760x1080. You can buy me a coffee here.

This ultrawide patch for Persona 4 Golden modifies the supported resolution list to add support for your chosen ultrawide resolution and modifies the screen AR and gameplay AR to fill the screen correctly. It replaces the need to use a reshade filter to stretch the image. Tested on the Steam release of Persona 4 Golden as of 21st of June 2020. Credit and thanks to StevieCoops#6722 on the WSGF Discord for assistance and testing. How to install: Download the patcher that matches your resolution and type of UI you want. Extract the patcher exe from the zip using the password 'pcgw'. Run the patcher and click the 3 dots and find 'P4G.exe' then hit start. Known issues: Adjusting render scale above or below 100% will interfere with the UI offset. Screen filters such as the scanline-effect in the TV world will only fill the center portion of the screen. Various other visual bugs due to seeing outside of the rendered UI. Internal resolution is 16:9 (3440x1935 using the 3440x1440 patcher). Interface is misaligned for mouse interactions. Example of centered UI. Please let me know in the comments if you have any questions or issues.

    Proposal: Achievements support

I would like to propose that the existence of achievements for a game be somehow catalogued. It can vary by platform like when Steam has achievements but Origin or Xbox does not. I think PCGamingWiki is the most suitable source for cataloguing this information.

    Proposal: Achievements support

This is a great idea. If we ever go with it, I also propose to mention when necessary if the game has achievements/trophies on consoles but not on PC. This is the case for many PS3/X360 generation games.

About An ASI Loader plugin which allows Battle For Bikini Bottom Rehydrated to run on Ultrawide displays, and with even higher framerates. Setup Extract the "BFBBUW.7z" file using 7-Zip, WinRAR, or anything else that can extract these archives, and use the password "pcgw" to extract. Copy the plugins folder and dsound.dll (ASI Loader) into the "\Pineapple\Binaries\Win64" directory of where the game is installed. Make sure that the in-game resolution is set to your chosen resolution. If you are using a non-16:9 or 21:9 resolution, you will need to edit the GameUserSettings.ini (in the "Pineapple" localappdata directory) using a text editor and then relaunch the game. Note: If you don't have any other Steam library locations set up, this will likely be "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\Common\SpongeBob SquarePants Battle for Bikini Bottom - Rehydrated". If you are experiencing difficulties launching the game or changes don't apply after installing the patch, make sure to download Visual C++ 2015-2019 Redists here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/2977003/the-latest-supported-visual-c-downloads Source Code Source code is available here: https://github.com/KingKrouch/BFBBUW

Previously we had a general strategy of mutual linking but I think we are moving towards utility for the user. I think GameFAQs would make a good addition, as we also link to StrategyWiki. WikiData would also be good since the hard work of adding our property has already done by @Nicereddy: https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Property:P6337 Just need to add the template rows in and someone with a bot can add all the data, any volunteers?

It's most likely a Steamstub issue. Adapt and follow the first steps of my DQB guide to work around it. Sadly, I'm not allowed to go into detail about Steamstub unpacking on PCGW.

The two-part solution allows to remove the black bars from the gameplay at 21:9 and 32:9 resolutions. Download and unpack the archive corresponding to your aspect ratio Run the patcher and target the file as instructed. Copy all the contents of the included folder to the main game folder (\Blasphemous\) Expect some minor visual glitches. Make sure to store and share your save files right away if you run into anything game-breaking. Keep in mind that instances of softlocks have been reported before the mod existed, but I am open to investigating any major issues as long as I have your save files. Tested the latest GOG version at 2560x1080, 3440x1440 and 3840x1080 for a few hours. You can buy me a coffee here.

So just revisiting this again. Satisfactory released on Epic Games Store on May 19, 2020. However the release date on our wiki article is Windows: Early access - this doesn't really make sense to me - as this is more to do with Steam's Early Access. We also now have an Introduction template which helps to explain exactly what the history of the game's release date is. Proposals: Platform (Windows/Mac/Linux) release dates are the 'official' 1.0 date of release (unless they are still in Early access). New row called Early access where the first version of the game is playable/purchaseable and is specifically not a demo. Ignore any specifics about dates if it is within 7 days's margin of error. Examples: Chaosbane released June 4th, ignore the fact that it was available to preorders on May 31st as it was within 7 days - this could be covered in Introduction. Star Citizen has Early access row filled for the Hangar module on August 29, 2013. No Windows 1.0 release date, so Windows row states 'Early access' System Shock 3 demo is not Early access, it is just a demo. Example for Satisfactory:

    Two systems in one

When you combine existing OS drives like that, your system will start with whichever drive is set to boot first in the UEFI/BIOS settings. You'll then see the other OS drive and you can move over whatever files you want (you'll need to "take ownership" to get to files inside your old user profile).

New documents from the Steamworks Documentation site show that Steam Cloud Play (Beta) is now being implemented. The new name of the service is Steam Cloud Gaming, and for it to be enabled, each game must support Steam Cloud Saves. In addition, each game developer has a choice to opt-in: โ€œEnable your game to run streamed from the Cloud, hosted by Valve, and the following service providers:โ€ and โ€œNVIDIA GeForce NOW.โ€ Nvidia's GeForce NOW has been running for quite some time as a PC gaming streaming service, and the real news is that Valve is implementing their own Valve-hosted game streaming service. It appears from the wording of the opt-in that Valve's own-hosted game streaming service is a prerequisite to enabling native GeForce NOW support. It remains to be seen exactly how game streaming will look and function within the Steam client, and we look forward to seeing full implementation soon.

Unpack the files to the game folder so that they are next to Observation.exe to remove the cinematic letterboxing (horizontal black bars). Tested the latest version at 2560x1080 and 1680x1050 on the first and one of the last levels. Let me know in the comments if you still come across letterboxing and attach your save files so I can take a look.

Taxonomy is a waste of time

I agree that the benefit/bother ratio is quite abysmal. Though, you can see how and why, if it isn't us to be able to offer queries for "games that can be hacked with local coop with a 3rd person perspective", nobody else could. Of course there should be some thought behind, and not "let's just put in everything and the kitchen sink"... Lol, that has actually already landed in some pages.

Taxonomy is a waste of time

Actually having a 'Cinematic camera perspective' is quite a valuable piece of information - it tells you that the player has no control over the camera. Some players may prefer games with fixed camera angles, some cannot stand them. I don't think adding genre, camera perspectives etc can in any way hurt the 'fix PC games' project of ours, it can only help. I've always maintained that the addition of additional information is always going to be helpful for lots of reasons - for rich, descriptive lists of games that no one else has. Like 'Singleplayer games with microtransactions' or 'Adventure games that support controller' or 'Horror games that support LAN'. Additionally, taxonomy will have benefits for our SEO and lays the foundation for a new 'Introduction' section I'm going to be working on next. I respect that you feel it's a waste of time, however it's something we are going ahead it and I reserve the right to waste my own time ๐Ÿ™‚. I would suggest turning off your watchlist for the next few weeks because there are going to be a lot of changes to every single article, taxonomy is just the beginning.

Quake 2 RTX doesn't look wet. In fact it's quite opposite to earlier implementations, eg q2pt: In Q2RTX stone surfaces are completely non-glossy, metal is shiny, I don't see exaggeration there. Q2RTX also features global illumination, you can check it on the first map in the secret area with silencer - no light directly shines there, but it's not completely dark in daylight.

Crysis: Remastered has been leaked on the Crytek website, which has now been taken down. However the screenshots are preserved in this tweet: The game also seems like it will release on the Nintendo Switch, as well as the PS4 and Xbox One. This is surprising considering that in 2007, the original Crysis was the benchmark for high fidelity graphics on PC. Will you be picking up this remastered edition?
  25. 1 point
That's the problem; hobbyists can make stunning visuals using the technology, but triple AAA developers are contractually obligated to keep some parity with the console versions, so it comes as to no surprise that the average AAA game only looks marginally better (shadows. SHADOWS.) with RTX enabled. If Crytek had the same mindset they had in 2007, Crysis remastered would be a PC exclusive and as such the game would have the most breathtaking visual fidelity allowed, but because it's the current year and consoles are targetted, raytracing would merely cripple the performance for uh, some darker spaces? It can't look too much better than the console versions, otherwise the console gamers would feel bad about having an inferior version despite constantly bragging about their exclusives.
  26. 1 point
That's what Raytracing does, but developers use it to consume significantly more resources for what amounts to being slightly shinier pixels, all because developers are terrified of making the PC version of their games look better than the 'primary' console versions.
  27. 1 point
Based on the teaser they released like half a year ago, in an essence, yes, as it will run on CryEngine 5.6 (see the teaser at the end of the below tech trailer). The primary performance issue of Crysis was always that they optimized the engine for a future that didn't happen, and so it doesn't scale well at all. They solved that issue partially in Warhead, but even more in Crysis 2, and the optimization was what allowed Crysis 1 to eventually arrive to Xbox 360 and PS3 (where it was running on the same engine as Crysis 2 if I remember it correctly). So with CryEngine 5.6 behind the remastered version of Crysis, it is very unlikely to have those same performance issues.
  28. 1 point
They can release e.g. separate "UHD texture pack DLC" for PC version which will require 16 GB of VRAM. ๐Ÿ˜„
  29. 1 point
Or introduce new level of graphics that no videocard could handle on maxed out settings. IIRC with Crysys was something like this: Devs: โ€” We made game so that it will be actual for future years, set Normal for current top hardware. Gamers: โ€” We set Ultra, your game has performance problems, wtf.

Taxonomy is a waste of time

It says on the home page "PCGamingWiki aims to list fixes and workarounds for every single PC game." How is writing that Escape From Monkey Island uses "cinematic camera perspective" help anyone ? In my opinion everything not related to getting the games fixed or improved is a waste of people's time and spreads the project and community thin. Even if it is done with a bot it just makes it harder to keep track of all the constant changes on your watchlist. This site is slowly creeping into Moby Games territory adding stuff like this, the ratings or whatever comes next.
