6 Screenshots

About This File

The tool corrects the field of view decrease affecting ultrawide resolutions and removes side black bars from the game. It also allows to change the field of view at any resolution in real time.

  1. Unpack the archive with software like 7zip or PeaZip using the password pcgw
  2. Launch the game, followed by the tool.
  3. Press the FOV correction key and further adjust the FOV if necessary.

All trainers containing CE components may trigger some anti-virus software.

The FOV correction approach is inspired by killer-m's work.

Tested the latest Steam version at 2560x1080 and 3840x1080.

I wouldn't download this since it contains a Program:Win32/Wacapew.B!ml virus. I don't even know if Rose is legit or not.

Hi, modern day anti-malware suites work more and more on machine learning, which means it uses a dumb algorithm to determine whether a file is malicious or not based on how much similarity it has to actual malware. As far as I can tell this is what the "!ml" at the end means -- it's a match based on a machine learned algorithm that was trained on malicious and non-malicious files (but apparently without any modding related files in the data set it was trained on...).

As a result, and as mentioned in the file description, basically any file that uses CheatEngine components to manipulate the memory of another process tend to get flagged as malicious by the machine learning algorithm since, well... I imagine it is because it changes the memory of another process... Which is exactly what it was designed to do and what players want it to do...

Rose has a long history of creating and uploading CheatEngine based mods to PCGamingWiki, so they are as "legit" as one can be in today's environment where false positives of gaming related mods/patches are a dime a dozen, though ultimately it's up to you whether you want to run the tool or not.

Download the archive and unpack it with software like PeaZip or 7zip.
Use the included tool to patch \FadeToSilence\Binaries\FadeToSilence-Win64-Shipping.exe within the game folder.
This will adjust the vertical FOV to match 16:9 and remove the pillarboxing from the menu screens and cutscenes.
Tested with the latest GOG version at 2560x1080 and 3840x1080.
Let me know if dialogue screens require fixing and post your save file from right before one starts to make it easier for me to trigger it.

The patcher unlocks all resolutions unavailable in the game, whether they're narrower or wider than 1920x1080.
Make sure to patch both files as instructed.
Tested the latest GOG version at 2560x1080 and 3840x1080.

The small patcher forces the game to use the desktop resolution, removing the black bars at 21:9 and wider. Disregard the resolution shown in the settings after patching.
Tested the latest GOG version mainly at 2560x1080. The game assets such as the backgrounds may not be wide enough for wider resolutions.

      Dishonored FOV Hack v1.0

      Should work with any version.
      Installation
      1. Put version.dll and fov.ini in the same folder as the game EXE file (Dishonored\Binaries\Win32).
      2. Edit fov.ini to your preference.

The small patcher removes the side black bars from the game at 21:9 and wider aspect ratios.

Unfortunately, it does not address the native issue of the Cultural Insight FMVs being cropped. As a workaround, those can be watched properly at any time from the menu by switching to a 16:9 resolution in the game, or on YouTube.

Tested on the latest Epic Games Store version at 2560x1080 and 5760x1080.

      Backup repository.
