  2. CONTROL - HDR+Ultrawide+DLSS+RT Patch

Do not ask for DLSS 3.5 or FSR 3 please.

Version 1.5.1 is up. It fixes the hiss/smoke effect on enemies being too bright in HDR.
Version 1.5 is up. It improves the DLSS implementation, improves the quality of shadow and fixes the buggy/noisy ray tracing reflections that are also present in the vanilla game.
Version 1.4 is up. It improves the UI look in HDR and implements the HDR mode that retains the original game look. It improves texture LODs with DLSS. It restores film grain with DLSS and makes it more pronounced. And many other relevant changes.
Version 1.3 is up. It adds a new HDR mode to retain the original hazy look more, keeping it closer to the original artistic vision. It also slightly improves a few other things with the HDR.
Version 1.2.1 is up. It improves the game to screen tonemapping (the highlights were a bit more compressed than they should have been). If you already had the mod installed, make sure to open the "renderer.ini" and change "m_fHDRWhitePaperNits" to 200. Performance is also improved.
Version 1.2 is up. The game is now built with the DLSS 3.1.1 SDK, and uses the new DLSS presets to further increase the quality (and reduce ghosting) (this is NOT frame generation). There are also some minor tonemapping and menus improvements.
This patch adds native HDR and lot more to Control, making it a little bit of a technical remaster. It was achieved by rebuilding the game with modified code and shaders.
This is built on top of my previous Ultrawide fix patch.
Compared to the latest official release version (0.0.344.1879), these are the improvements:
Native HDR (gets rid of color banding, greater contrast and brighter highlights, more natural colors). Improved quality of SDR output (10bit->no more color banding, slightly better dynamic range). Upgraded DLSS to 3.1.30 and improved its implementation (it's also now compatible with FSR 2.X injection). Added DLAA support (DLSS at native resolution). Added a new "Max" texture setting to improve the slow texture streaming (min 8GB+ VRAM, 10GB+ are recommended). Added a new setting to use 3x as samples for ray tracing and volumetrics, increasing the quality and reducing noise (this is VERY expensive). Fixed broken ray tracing reflections. Fixed low shadow quality when ray tracing was on. Full UltraWide support: unlock any resolution and aspect ratio, including 32:9+. Some FOV and LOD fixes for UW. Fixed UI issues at non 16:9 aspect ratios (e.g. enemies health bars were displaced). Added a FOV Multiplier config setting `m_fFOVMultiplier` (the game and UI are designed for the default FOV, so only use for accessibility reasons). Add a config to skip the intro video `m_bSkipIntroVideos`. Improved window+borderless+fullscreen management. Fixed the game not launching correctly on non Nvidia non AMD GPUs (e.g. Intel Arc). Restored film grain with DLSS. Tweaked the film grain implementation. Minor crash fixes, bug fixes and features. How does it work:
Download your version of the patch (Steam, Epic Store, No DRM/GOG). Copy (with replace) all the files inside the Control install folder. Open the DX12 version of the game. You can turn on HDR either from Windows or from the game (on by default). The game will read the Windows 11 HDR calibration profile (app) and match its tonemapping to your screen capabilities.
Otherwise see the guide below to calibrate HDR. Using HGiG is suggested if your TV supports it (monitors usually default to HGiG). In the game settings, there are multiple HDR settings to tailor the image to your liking, though know that the HDR is already pre-calibrated to roughly match the SDR brightness. Further details:
You can swap between HDR and SDR from the game or Windows at any time. The game automatically changes. Further HDR settings are avaiable in the "renderer.ini" file (after running the game once). config "m_fHDRMaxNitsOverride": If you are incapable of creating an HDR calibration profile (e.g. Windows 10), set this to the nits max nits your screen supports (e.g. ~750 for LG CX).
The game supports any value there, though if your screen maxes out at only 400 nits, you might want to compare HDR and SDR and play whichever looks best. config "m_fHDRRaisedBlacksCorrection" (also exposed to settings menu): This makes the color correction LUT output black as black (instead of grey, depending on where you are). config "m_fHDRSaturation" (also exposed to settings menu): This artificially generates colors in the Rec.2020 space from the game internal Rec.709 image. Anything that is bright and saturated will shift to colors that don't exist in SDR. This makes the game look more saturated, though it could also make it feel more "HDR". Unreal Engine uses a similar technique. The HDR implementation skips the Reinhard tonemapper the game used in SDR. In my opinion it made the image look overly flat, which was a choice dictated by the limitations of SDR. Removing it allows to take full advantage of HDR, by outputting an image with a much greater level of contrast, and without disadvantages to visibility. If you prefer the original look, enable "HDR Original Look" in the settings menu, which is somewhere in between the SDR tonemapper and my HDR one.
Disabling the tonemapper in SDR is not the intent of this mod, so it will not be done.
You can further customize the og look mode by changing the "m_fHDRArtDirectorWhitePoint" config. Set it to a value of 8 to have it as strong as it was in SDR. Note that a very tiny amount of scenes (e.g. the game opening and the furnace), can look a little unbalanced in HDR due to overly strong lights or strong color correction. Use the "HDR Original Look" if this a problem for you. You can set "m_fSDRCustomGamma" to any value > 0 to set a specific gamma, for example if you use a TV instead of a monitor, 2.2 would likely be the best choice. The performance impact from the new code should be within the 1-4% range when running in HDR, and lower running in SDR. HDR is only supported on the DX12 executable. There is no patch for the Microsoft Store version of the game. If for some reasons you need to swap save files between game versions from different stores, you can find the directories here. You might also have to rename the internal save directory, e.g. from `Default-Generic-User` to `Default-Epic-User`. This should work both on the Ultimate Edition and the older standard version that had separate DLCs. The DLC ownership might not be mutually compatible. The save game files are mutually compatible with the official last version fo the game (v0.0.344.1879). PS4 exclusive content is still locked and I will not unlock it. Do not ask please. You can generally change graphics settings at runtime, but don't report problems unless you restart the game. The new UI options miss localization, so they will always show in English. My "Max" texture setting might not be as aggressive as the "Blurry textures fix" mod that was already out there, though it's more safe and stable, performance wise.
All textures now load immediately, the only exception being a couple of small paintings around the game. I got report that mods like the "Plugin Loader" do not play well with this one. I have contacted the author to hopefully fix the issue. There is no plan to implement DLSS 3 Frame Generation at this time. Please do not ask. Rare game bug likely not related to this patch:
Very rarely, the videos in the background of loading screens seem to get stuck. I haven't been able to reproduce this reliably, but it probably also happens in the the vanilla game. Rarely, after long sessions, if ray tracing GI is enabled, the game renders in black until restarted. This also happens in the vanilla game. Occasionally non ray traced reflections can shimmer. This also happens in the the vanilla game. Doing a fast travel fixes it. 8k resolutuon might not work right (untested). If pre-rendered videos show tearing on RTX 4090 GPUs, disable re-bar. How to report any potential issues:
Do not start with the assumption that the mod broken, it's been tested a lot. Verify all potential issues from your end first. Do a fresh install of the latest vanilla game version. Delete your renderer.ini settings file. Make sure the issue does NOT happen on the vanilla game. This patch does not aim to fix the bugs of the original game (nor to optimize it), so do not report them please. Re-apply the latest version of the patch, from the matching store, and override all the files. If all the above fail, leave a comment on this page. How does this compare to AutoHDR: AutoHDR is just a post process so it doesn't add any detail. Specifically in Control it makes bright lights and the UI too bright.
How does this compare to SpecialK HDR: SpecialK can increase the rendering buffers depth, thus increasing the amount of color shades the game can output (less banding), but it can't extract any brightness beyond what the SDR tonemapper clamped the game to, so it's mostly still a SDR image with more precision.
Given HDR screenshots can't be seen in browsers, I've uploaded a collection of them. There are SDR .png alongside their HDR .jxr counterpart.
Use the "HDR Image Viewer" app to see them (use this code branch if the app crashes).

  3. Max Payne Series Startup Hang Patch

Applies to latest versions of: Max Payne, Max Payne 2

This patch is intended to solve issues related to game engine initializing Direct3D inside DllMain, which most notably causes the game to hang during startup with certain combinations of graphics hardware and drivers. Additionally, it is impossible to run the game through dgVoodoo Direct3D 8 to 11 wrapper, because Direct3D 11 runtime refuses to initialize from DllMain to prevent lockups.

The patch will solve above mentioned issues and possibly other problems that might be related to Direct3D initialization inside DllMain by delaying actual initialization to the point when execution flow returns from LoadLibrary API, therefore preventing any sort of lockup that would occur otherwise.

No compatibility modes should be applied to game executables, as they usually create more problems than they solve. Starting the game with affinity set to single core also isn't required anymore and will only serve to slow the game down a little.

  6. The Outer Worlds ultrawide & superwide fix (weapons corrected)

Note: A standalone solution for the Spacer's Choice edition is now available.

The trainers for Microsoft, Epic, Steam and GOG game versions remove black bars from real-time rendered cutscenes, menu and dialogue screens, and correct the field of view and hands model scaling at ultrawide and wider resolutions.
Use software like PeaZip or 7zip to unpack the archives. The password is pcgw Run the game first, followed by the trainer, and press the button as instructed. Some delay is possible. The mod does not address the stretching of pre-rendered cutscenes.
In order to force unsupported resolutions, edit GameUserSettings.ini and set the ResolutionSizeX= and ResolutionSizeY= values as desired - e.g. 5760 and 1080. Getting into the settings in the game will undo the changes, so make sure to have configured the game to preference prior to editing the config.

  7. Death Stranding ultrawide fix + FOV changer

Note: A standalone solution for the Director's Cut edition is now available.

The tools allow for support of any display aspect ratio and real-time FOV adjustment in Death Stranding. The gameplay and engine-rendered cutscenes will properly fill the screen, while the state of the pre-rendered cutscenes will depend on the used solution.

    Option 1:
A trainer automatically detecting any resolution and allowing to make the zoomed pre-rendered cutscenes 16:9. Left alignment of the pre-rendered cutscenes is a known issue. The tool also allows to adjust FOV at any aspect ratio.
Unpack the archive - the password is pcgw Launch the game, followed by the trainer Press the desired keys - ideally from the main menu and before any cutscenes Go to Graphics Settings and select your resolution under 21:9
Correcting the aspect ratio may require switching to 16:9 in Graphics Settings, then back to 21:9. Option 2:
The known ultrawide solution made into patchers limited to common wide resolutions and keeping the pre-rendered cutscenes zoomed.

Tested on the latest Steam version at 1920x1080, 2560x1080, 3440x1440, 3840x1080 and 5760x1080 (HUD is spanned).

I may have been the first to discover the common sense aspect ratio change solution (as seen on the WSGF Discord), but I am certainly not the one who published the bytes first (looks like it was FasterThanFTL). As such, I am not taking any credit for the patchers but you can buy me a coffee or support me on Patreon for the trainer built over many hours of 100% unique research, calculations and code.

  16. Jedi Knight DF2 & MotS Pre-patched Unofficial Patches

    Pre-patched Unofficial Patches
    for
Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II & Mysteries of the Sith (1997-98) by LucasArts

This is a bundle and re-upload of the "Unofficial Patch" executables for Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II and its expansion, Mysteries of the Sith. The unofficial patches improve compatibility with modern Windows, add team chat in multiplayer and are required for some mods (particularly Jedi Knight Enhanced and Jedi Knight Retexture Pack). Most users choosing to play these games on modern Windows will want to use these.
These are the pre-patched versions, meaning that the original executables have already been patched. The CD checks have also been removed. This makes them compatible with digital releases like those from Steam and GOG, which have already been patched to remove CD checks (and, therefore, would cause the the original unofficial patches to either fail or introduce CD checks).

    Installation
Simply copy the contents of the appropriate included folder to your game folder, overwriting any files. In other words, copy JK.EXE, JK-Extension.dll and the Resource folder from the "Jedi Knight - Dark Forces II" folder and/or JKM.exe from the "Jedi Knight - Mysteries of the Sith" folder to your game folder(s).

    Important note
The unofficial patches help these games to launch on modern Windows, but there are a host of other issues that you may encounter once the games are running, especially related to 3D acceleration and music. For most users, those issues can be overcome with further file supplementation and tweaking. The following pages aggregate the best solutions for each game:
    https://pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Star_Wars:_Jedi_Knight_%E2%80%93_Dark_Forces_II#Issues_fixed
    https://pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Star_Wars:_Jedi_Knight_%E2%80%93_Mysteries_of_the_Sith#Issues_fixed

Most common issues and their usual solutions
    * Black screen in either game: Use a DirectDraw wrapper like dgVoodoo 2 according to the following instructions...
    https://pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Star_Wars:_Jedi_Knight_-_Dark_Forces_II#3D_acceleration_issues
    * No music in either game: Rename JK.EXE or JKM.EXE to something else (like JediKnight.exe).
    * Still no music in either game: Replace the music wrapper according to the following instructions...
    JK: https://pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Star_Wars:_Jedi_Knight_-_Dark_Forces_II#Music_issues

  17. The Punisher Gore patch

A patch that includes files that both restore, as well as add, removed, as well as shortened executions back into the game.

Reinstituting both gore effects, as well as blood effects to interrogations, executions, or even simple blood splatters.

It also removes, and clears the image of the "black and white" filter that the game displays when executing enemies after interrogating them.

The patch its also perfectly compatible with the widescreen fix made by "ThirteenAG".

I didn't created the patch, I would give credit to the person that did, but sadly I don't know who, or how many people where involved in the creation of this patch.

  20. SimCity 2000 compatibility patch

Patched executable to fix city saving/loading crashes in the Windows 95 version of SimCity 2000 on modern versions of Windows.

Extract to the installation folder, replacing the existing file when prompted.

This patch does not work for the Network Edition; use the SimCity 2000 Network Edition Interoperability Patch for that version.

This patched executable was made using a patch posted by MRC on Simcity 2000 on W7 x64 - Page 2 - Windows 7 Help Forums.

  21. The Suffering Series AiO Patch

This is All-in-One unofficial patch for The Suffering: Prison Is Hell and The Suffering: Ties That Bind, which provides all improvements and bugfixes
for the games in one convenient package.
    Included patches/fixes:
    Common:
Fixed the bug with game interpreting available hard disk space value incorrectly, preventing users from saving the game and the config file from being updated if they have more than 2 TB of free space on their hard drive. Widescreen support; all supported resolutions are selectable, FOV is adjusted according to the screen's aspect ratio, HUD and in-game FMVs are adjusted as well so they don't stretch with wide aspect ratios. Resolutions available in fullscreen mode are also available in windowed mode. Game's own threads are bound to run on the CPU's first core, this reduces the probability of 'black texture bug' occurrence. Game will now use the audio device selected in Riot Engine Configuration dialog instead of always using default device. Hardware accelerated DirectSound buffers are no longer explicitly requested and the default limit of sound buffers has been increased to prevent sound dropouts on typical modern PC. EAX option has been disabled in Riot Engine Configuration in Sound tab (EAX effects are not implemented). Added frame rate limiter which defaults to limiting the game to run at 59 FPS to workaround bugs that occur at higher frame-rates and provides better mouse response when monitor runs at 60 Hz and VSync is enabled. Game will set monitor's refresh rate to 60 Hz when in fullscreen mode. Ability to tweak mouse sensitivity value if using in-game sensitivity slider doesn't achieve desired effect. Removed bad DirectX check, game will launch without error or DirectPlay pop-up dialog on Windows 8+ if DirectPlay isn't present (which is the default). Made game's message loop more conventional (PeekMessage called without message filtering) to workaround the bug in Windows' Desktop Window Manager, which causes oddities in windowed mode; window being declared unresponsive and replaced with a ghost window after 5 seconds when it loses focus. It even happens that the DWM tries to replace the game window with a ghost window during normal gameplay. Use GetMessage in the message loop for the Riot Engine Configuration dialog rather than PeekMessage, this normalizes CPU usage of said dialog. Embedded manifest in executables:
-Marked as compatible with all existing Windows versions.
    -Marked as high-DPI aware.
-Marked as UAC (User Account Control) aware.
-Requests version 6.00 of Common Controls Library to enable visual styles in Riot Engine Configuration dialog. Registry settings are written to HKEY_CURRENT_USER instead of HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE. User files are redirected to Documents folder, in "My Games\The Suffering [TTB]". Removed all calls to RegFlushKey (not needed). Removed the call to OutputDebugString that was needlessly made every frame. Reordered icons in the .exe's resource so the Torque icon is the main one instead of the Riot Engine logo. Prison Is Hell specific:
Selecting anything but the first entry in the Display Driver drop-down list in Riot Engine Configuration dialog will no longer result in the empty Display Mode list, so the game can now be made to run on any monitor, not just the primary one. Fixed the bug with gamma setting not being applied at game startup. Textures now appear clearer when looked at from the distance. Don't grab keyboard exclusively when in fullscreen; Win key works and Alt-Tab behaves normally on modern Windows versions. Added window caption. Disabled screenshot feature (F10 key) since it crashes. Ties That Bind specific:
Registry settings are stored in a separate value called SettingsDX106 rather than SettingsDX105, which is used by the first game since the binary structures between the games aren't 100% compatible between each other. Fixed the bug with some sounds being delayed when 3D sound buffers are enabled. Added file (Common\System\System.odu) that turns off censorship of Creeper's famous part of dialog (for English version only). Installation
To install, simply extract contents of each game's folder into your own, overwriting original files.
Important: When applying the patch to The Suffering: Ties That Bind, copy the Common folder only if you have the English version of the game.
    Known issues
    Common:
On wide resolutions, aspect ratio correction causes right side of the screen that should be blank to appear garbled when viewing Archives pages. Prison Is Hell specific:
Field of view calculation causes inventory icons to be rendered at wrong place and often appears invisible.

  23. Universal UE4 dev-console launcher

Note: this requires the Universal UE4 Console Unlocker to be downloaded separately, this can be found on the FRAMED screenshot community site here: https://framedsc.github.io/GeneralGuides/universal_ue4_consoleunlocker.htm#downloading-the-unlocker
This EXE can launch a UE4 game and automatically unlock the UE4 console, via Otis_Inf & Sunbeams excellent "Universal UE4 Console Unlocker"!
There's no need to alt-tab out of the game to inject it manually, now you have an EXE that'll take care of everything for you automatically!
The Universal UE4 Console Unlocker files aren't included with this ZIP, you can find them at the link above.
    Install
Download & extract the Universal UE4 Console Unlocker files linked above to your games Win64 folder if you haven't already (next to the main EXE, xxxx-Shipping-Win64.exe) Either edit the IGCSInjector.ini with the games information, or remove it entirely (the launcher can hopefully detect these settings for you) Download & extract the launcher files from this page to the same folder. (at this point, you should have at least 2 extra files next to the game EXE: UE4ConsoleLaunch.exe & UniversalUE4UnlockerDumper.dll) Run the UE4ConsoleLaunch.exe application, which should launch the game and after a small delay inject the console unlocker into it. Once at the games menus, press Tilde (left of the 1 key) to open up the console (one press will open a mini-console, two will open the full console) After that's setup you can make a shortcut to the UE4ConsoleLaunch.exe, or add it to Steam as a non-Steam game, this way the game will always have the developer console available whenever you run it!
UE4 includes a ton of different commands & variables by default, a partial list is at https://digilander.libero.it/ZioYuri78/, for example to enable FlyCam just enter ToggleDebugCamera into the console. Most games also include custom commands not listed here - it's up to you to figure those out!
The launcher has mostly only been tested & confirmed working with Code Vein, but it should hopefully support any other UE4 game that the unlocker DLL supports (pretty much anything from 2016+).
Hopefully it should be able to detect & launch the EXE without any configuration needed, but if that fails you can edit the IGCSInjector.ini file included with the Universal UE4 Console Unlocker.
If the launcher EXE fails to run, you might need to install .NET 4.7.2, this can be downloaded from here: https://dotnet.microsoft.com/download/thank-you/net472
Launcher is based on "Universal UE4 Console Unlocker", big thanks to the developers Otis_Inf & Sunbeam! More info about it can be found here: https://framedsc.github.io/GeneralGuides/universal_ue4_consoleunlocker.htm
The launcher can be freely distributed as you like, as long as you leave a link back to this page (for any updates etc). The unlocker DLL is covered under different terms however, and sadly can't be included.

  24. Beyond: Two Souls letterboxing remover

Unpack the archive with software like 7zip, then patch the main game exe with the tool.
This will remove the letterboxing (black bars) from the game, resulting in more vertical FOV than ever before. There will be some vertical stretching of the menu and subtitles.

If you have the game on Steam, you will first need to adapt and follow the first steps of my DQB2 guide in order to apply the patcher. Such are the rules!

  25. Max Payne Anthology Definitive Fixes

I compiled the most used fixes for the first two games, and decided to upload them here. To install them you need to unpack the files to the game folders and apply "sound fix.reg" (It might not be needed with this game, but other games could use it so I recommend it anyway) and optionally apply "all difficulties.reg" if you want every difficulty and game mode unlocked from the start. I also recommend the Max Payne Remastered mod for the first game here. If you want to use DgVooDoo 2 you need to disable d3d8to9 in global.ini and rename d3d8.dll to dinput.dll.
    the fixes included are:
Startup fix v1.01 - UCyborg, D3d8to9 - Crosire, sound fix - J.P. Ownby, Widescreen fix v16.05.2020 - ThirteenAG, DSOAL - kcat, Updated Classic - philips_27, repacking as mods - Kolter (both available only on the UC discord) [MP1] Widescreen Intro - Perseus290688, [MP1] AMD Ryzen fix - luigoalma, [MP1] Adaptive Difficulty Removal - knightofthewind89, [MP2] Dead Man Walking bonus chapters - Rockstar Games, [MP2] Weapon Patch - AntiEvil, [MP2] Max Payne 2: Fixing the Payne - H-G (Previously known as The Eddo), [MP2] Fixed Payne - Mercenaries Company, [MP2] Xbox Rain Droplets - ThirteenAG.
