What are some best practices to tell if a pack/kit containing extra levels, utilities, or other assets, is substantial enough to cover? They may or may not be commercial (if even authorized). I saw examples like Duke!Zone and The Lost Levels of Doom are briefly mentioned on PCGW.

I was looking up arcade games, to fun results. In addition to the pictured examples (not mine), I've spotted releases of Dig Dug, Pac-Man, Elevator Action, Mappy, Kiki Kaikai, Libble Rabble... As for collections, the Namco History volumes are neat for having titles infrequently available in the west (King & Balloon, Toy Pop, Phozon).

I was looking at my shelf of old games and spotted SimCity Classic. For a game this popular, the article has minimal information about the Windows 3.x or Windows 9x releases. To add confusion, the same name / cover art was used for DOS and Windows/Mac. There's floppy versions (some 3.5" copies say 5.25" disks are available by request), and various CD-ROMs (Deluxe Edition, etc). As for my test results, I've had decent success running the native 32-bit version on Windows 11. I started by using a workaround for the 16-bit installer (much like SC2000). Being tile-based, the game's form of "widescreen" is resizing the window to expand the view. Sounds/music can be toggled on/off, plus they'll mute on focus loss. But the help file doesn't work out of the box (WinHelp is deprecated). A few details are slightly bothersome by modern standards. No zoom feature I know of, and the mouse wheel doesn't seem to scroll the main game window (either horizontal or vertical).

A bit of a strange question, the game has been available without GFWL for years. That said, is there a way to install the DLC that used to be sold for the GFWL version? I can't check the shuttered Games for Windows Marketplace to verify the details, but I believe three of the packs were released for GFWL players (Insane Night, Crime Alley, Dem Bones) and are now only included in the GOTY edition.

Knowing which games support on-screen button prompts for steering wheels (or dance pads, flight sticks, etc) would be nice. Pedals and other exotic inputs might be labeled differently on the controller, from a standard gamepad.

Games that become subscription-only
Theclaw135 replied to Theclaw135's topic in Articles and troubleshooting
I'll look into it. This is EA being EA. (for instance similar was done to Rory McIlroy PGA Tour on Xbox, last I checked) -
What's the best way to describe games like FIFA 21? Standalone purchases of the game have been disabled, but it's still available for EA Play subscribers.

Information on where games are cut / censored
Theclaw135 replied to stuttgart's topic in Articles and troubleshooting
Patches or mods, even multiplayer could be incompatible with censored versions. -
Reportedly, the PC versions of the Trails of Cold Steel games contain unreleased DLC files. Costumes/cosmetics available on the Japan PlayStation Store, pre-order bonuses, or other events. I'd like more detailed clarification. It may have been a licensing issue, as some of the items prominently feature Sony's cat mascot. Is any of this data present in the GOG release? What about bugs or glitches? I don't know how much Xseed tested these items on PC.
