List of game-breaking things?

I was wondering if a list of game-breaking things (DLC especially) could be included in the page of each game that suffers from it?

I already have a short list of them, what do you think about this idea?
 

- Bioshock Infinite - Burial at sea Episode 2 : the plasmid Peeping Tom lets you see through walls like Robocop.

 

- Dark Souls 2 (pre-order): a big list of weapons and shields, just after the creation of the character, no need to even search for it. You can't even destroy or drop them but it seems that you can delete a file in "\Steam\SteamApps\common\Dark Souls II\DLC\License" to remove them from the game.

 

- Deus Ex human revolution (augmented edition): gives a tool for automatic hacking + 10 000 credits.

Also The grenade-launcher DLC simplifies a bit much the boss fights.

N.B.: the Director's Cut edition does not give you the 10 000 credits.

 

- Dishonored (GOTY): includes a lot of DLC (pre-order and all)

After the prologue when arriving in the bedroom, there is on the tables 12 spells, around 2000 coins et several things that you can sell. And you got 5 locations for the spells instead of 3 originally.

 

- Fallout New Vegas (Goty): One of the DLC included gives you several bonus in the beginning of the game, notably a grenade-launcher and a "life-potion".

Maybe it is possible to deactivate the DLC from the launcher ?

 

- Metro Last Light (collector edition): There is a RPK 74 given as a bonus with the collector edition or with some DLC that you find directly at the third chapter (Pavel) in the middle of other weapons. Not really powerfull for the infiltration part afterwards but makes the outside part after that way too easy.

 

- Rage (pre-order): includes a DLC giving you an outfit with all the attributes of the 3 other outfits of the game packed all together, making the game easier.

 

- Resident Evil Revelations: The following DLC: "Resistance" and "Enhancement Set" gives you weapon for the Raid mode that you're supposed to get only later.

 

Saints Row 3: There is some DLC which brings tanks and army planes directly in the beginning of the game + "THE" cheat DLC : invincibility and unlimited ammo.

 

- Sleeping Dogs : The DLC "Top Dog Silver Pack", "The High Roller Pack" and "The Red Envelope Pack" gives you money or reputation points.

 

- Splinter Cell Blacklist (Deluxe edition): The High Power Pack DLC included dbrings 5 way too strong weapons.

Thankfully they are at the end of the weapon list so you can avoid to use them.

 

- The Witcher 2: If you import the savestate of The Witcher 1 and that, in this one, you've obtained one specific blade (don't know the name, sorry, you will start the Witcher 2 with it, which makes the beginning much easier.

Pour rappel, à Flotsam, le joueur est censé galérer un peu afin de se trouver une pauvre épée en argent pour espérer lutter contre les monstres.

 

- Thief (Master Thief Edition): weapons and gears too strong in the DLC Booster Packs included in the deluxe edition.

Solution: They are in a safe in the clocktower so you're not obliged to take them.

They are not really game breaking, just slightly more overpowered than usual :v 

 

Some of the games you've listed already have instructions on how to disable the cheat DLCs such as Sleeping Dogs.

 

Fallout New Vegas has a mod which grants the DLC items later on in the game, although I lost the link to it.

It's very subjective as to what would count as "game breaking", so I'm not sure if we should include these kinds of things. In all likelihood it would just end in pages being too text-heavy, with much of the content being fairly irrelevant.

Thanks for your answers guys.

It's true that it's not really game-breaking but I personally, hate to have the god-mod ON just when I start a new game and I thought it could be nice to let people know.

 

But it's just an idea. ;)

I like the idea, but I think we've thus far tried to stick to very objective, factual information in our articles. In the future something like this may be added, but I don't think we can/want to do that at present.

I don't see the problem with this, it has already been done for some articles.

I thought this was actual design decision as they changed gameplay drastically. They did also include surfaces which make noise and detection meter making it much more stealth game. Also plasmids are always explained the first time you get them so if you want to you can simply not use them! DLC episodes extras aren't usable in other DLC or main game (at least I remember so) 

 

Right now Enhanced Steam does list what DLC gives you exactly but problem with that is "Pay to unlock" pretty much means cheat DLC but some like Dishonoreds Void Walker Arsenal (preorder thing you mentioned) is categorized as "New in-game item" so it's really hard to tell how much it effects the games balance and which are actual new gameplay improving things. Also for some reason it's fairly outdated database. 

 

Some kind of public database would be nice though, then enhanced steam guys could use it as well instead of manually maintaining their own. 

 

With Sleeping Dogs DLC was so ridiculous, basically paying to skip most of the game, it was listed as fix but luckily steam now allows disabling DLC.
