Requested feature for PCGW: List all available DLC for games

I have put a stable version at Development:DLC. Functionality/layout is the same (columns for name, notes and OS).

There is no DRM column (unlike Availability) since only a few cases have different/additional DRM and those can be covered in the notes as needed.

Further feedback would be appreciated so this can be finalised and rolled out later this month or something.

Could the Expand/Collaps text be centered? Maybe remove the brackets too?

Is this fixable? I64nEXM.png It's odd how the row below the name field fades.

I have integrated the section header into the template.

The expand/collapse position and fading behaviour are part of the default style; it's probably possible to change at least the centering aspect but someone else would have to look into that (I don't know JavaScript).

I'll probably start rolling this out later today since discussion is getting down to visual specifics.

Template:OS still needs some sort of DOS logo.

Couldn't you simply have an id for this template?

Paging Nicereddy for the icon :)

To the DesignMobile!

Any ideas for the DOS icon besides just writing "DOS"? I was thinking about maybe using the generic ">_" terminal icon, but I don't know if that would be easily recognizable as representing DOS.

And I really hate the Expand/Collapse text, so I might play around with it on the dev site when I have some time. If it breaks anything, I'll just blame Soeb.

I would not mind if it was removed but some DLCs still act as Expansions so that's a tiny problem.

Hm, one thing that we've seem to not have cleared up - do we remove the DLC from the series box or not?

Personal opinion on matter is that larger expansions/DLC should still be left to seriesbox, in most cases they doesn't even take that much space. Then within article would contain everything and also notes and platforms.

We should set an accurate borderline between expansions (good old ones, like Company of Heroes, Battlefield 2, world of warcraft) and the crappy dlcs of our days (bf4, deus ex human revolution..)

I don't think we should take it upon ourselves to define what's a "proper expansion". It's not something objective, but subjective - for example, I don't think that Missing Link for DX:HR was too small to be considered a "proper expansion", rather than a cheap DLC for a quick buck.

Well, in all fairness I never played DX:HR and I prejudicially assumed its additional content was crap because of this.

But you are probably right besides. Because bf3 and bf4 dlcs could even introduce lots of things.. still the rip-off feeling I have is sky high (since they already planned all the scam in advance).

With BF2 expansions on the other hand, I would have even accepted smaller new contents but.. I don't know. Perhaps love for users? ... I'm wandering

  • 1 month later...

While the table has been working great so far, there is still one nagging issue left: DOS still needs a logo.

It's pretty jarring having text next to proper icons.

Done, nothing particularly fancy though. See here.

It doesn't look particularly attractive on lower PPI displays, unfortunately, but it does seem readable to me.

Thanks. At least we have something.

If you can spare the time, try making something more stylish. Otherwise, it's perfect.

On an OS related note, should we try to differentiate Mac OS and OS X logo-wise (i.e. make current logo for OS X and a new Finder logo for Mac OS)?

I like that idea, if I don't have it implemented in the next few days feel free to pester me about it.
